maddhunter
Well I finally spent the money and got some heavy shot and a H>S> Strut Undertaker choke tube, $66 for both. I wasn't impressed at all. That combo didn't shoot near as good at 40 yards or 30 as do my Rem. 4x6 shot through a Tru Glo superfull turkey choke. I was shooting #5s with 1 5/8oz shot. Is there a better load, size of shot or something I should try before getting rid of this choke tube?
Guest ketchum
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? Try the Nitros, I think they will shoot in any gun or choke better than any other shell.
HeviShot
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? I shoot a Nova pump with a H.S undertaker choke .665.#4#5##6Hevishot in 3 1/2 all worked well in my gun.#4Win 3 1/2 also was great.I'm trying the new Fed load tomorrow am.Look at The best pattern I'v ever seen. It all depends on what your gun likes.
Strut10
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? Madd............ I would suggest you try either Winchester Supreme HV #6's or Winchester X-Tended Range Hi-Density #6's (or both) through your choke. Either of them should give you a good "turkey-killing" pattern density.

maytom
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? When using the new Hevishot, whether it's put out by Remington, Envirometal, Federal, Winchester, or Nitro, you still have to "FIND" the correct choke tube that it likes. Granted, the Factory hevishot shells are cheaper than Nitro's, but they can still ring up a bill when searching for the best load/choke combo. I know this sounds like I'm praising the Nitro/Rhino combo again, but this a proven combo, it does it all.
13littleones
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? This combo works for me and it rocks.... Rem. Hevi-shot 1 5/8 oz. 5 shot..... using a madd # 1012 choke tube.... i shoot an Rem. 870 express
maddhunter
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? The Undertaker choke tube I got has a .675 constriction. I might try a 1 1/4oz load, I think the velocity is 1300fps on them. The 1 5/8oz loads are only 1225fps. Sure hope it will make a difference, I really wanted to use them since they have more energy dwon range.

Are these about the same as the High Velocity, or do you think the HC is considerably better?? I am gonna pattern them and my federal loads soon(maybe tomorrow) to see how they do. otdrzmn04
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? i shoot an 835 with undertaker tube also but it doesnt have the I.D. stamped on it, not sure if its .675 or not. mine patterns very good with 3.5" #6 hevi shot. though its not forgiving on the shoulder patterning, in the woods youll never notice it. Strut_Buster
Re: Not Impressed With Heavy Shot???????? I can only get Hevi Shot to Pattern well in my 20 ga. I use Winchester HV for all my other guns.
