clrj3514
I've been having some pain in some of my bottom teeth so Mama got me an appointment with the dentist. I had a hole in my tooth (from the wreck) that I thought was causing the pain. Doc took a look & figured wisdom teeth. One x-ray later, his hypothesis was validated. Got one coming in crooked on the bottom left & I'm going to have to get it & possibly another cut out. Going for my consultation with the oral surgeon Friday. Adjam5
I had them all out Chris. It does not hurt while they are doing it, but it feels kind of weird when they are tugging on a tooth. If the tooth is impacted like you say, then they have some work ahead of them. If you are like me, I constantly had my tongue tip in the missing tooth hole(s). Irritating it. But the mouth heals faster than anyplace else. Good Luck and don't worry.

Thanks for the encouragement Anthony. It wouldn't be a big deal but the dentist said I'm one of those rare people with 2 sets of third molars. Jeramie
Do it while youre young. My wife had hers cut out last year. She waited until she was 30 and it was BAD. Her brother had them done as a teen and it was nothing. I was born without them.....
colorado bob
No big deal. I had all 4 of mine out at the same time. I went to an Oral Surgeon. Went back to work the next day. Only real pain was in a few days when I went back to remove the stitchs. CB
Shaun_300
Good luck Chris! They're usually not too bad nowadays. My friend had his out a few years ago and I went to see him the same night he had them done, he was in no pain, wasn't swollen, was able to talk fine. I still have mine in. Dad just had his out a couple years ago when he was 48 and they also went like a breeze. They told me when I was 16 or 17 I had to have them taken out. I'm 23 now and they'll probably be in until I have to have them out.
Mach1
I had all mine taken out about a month before I turned 20. Had it done on the morning of the first Friday of the NCAA basketball tournament. I was knocked out for the procedure and came out of it ok. I was given a script for Vicadin, but didn't fill it because Advil took care of any of the pain I had. I was back to school on Monday and eating pretty much anything I wanted. I did put ice packs on my jaws frequently to keep swelling down through the weekend. My cousin had hers done about a month later and was sick for a few days from it. bowhuntMN
There's absolutely no pain at all. I had mine out this last May and they first give you gas to get you all "relaxed", then they slip the needle in and you're out like a light. You then wake up and get to eat milkshakes all day. I went home, took a nap, and woke up feeling the same as I did the day before. I didn't need any of the strong medications they gave me, just the Ibuprofen tablets they told me to take for about a week. I can tell you honestly that I felt no pain whatsoever from the time i was in the surgeon's chair till my mouth fully healed. I saw somebody say the only discomfort he had was when they took the stitches out but they gave me stitches that wear out after a few days and then they're gone, no pulling. I think that's what they're using now days.

I was eating food normally the next day. Didn't have to use any of the strong pain meds they gave me and I only had to ice my jaw a few times over the weekend to keep the swelling down (even though i didn't swell much at all).
