Rhino
Since we've had a couple of threads relating to the scores of bucks I've conversed with Chris about doing this. Our hunting club has had a big buck pot, winner take all for the past 15 years. The winning buck is based on the highest gross B&C score. I'm the official scorer. With money on the line (plus the winner gets an extra buck added to his next year's membership quota) my tape doesn't have a fudge factor. Over that period of time I've probably scored at least 75 bucks. Also, just so you'll know, I've scored 3 other bucks that were later officially scored for both B&C & P&Y and so far I've never been more than 3/8" off the official score with my tape. Now, with that background info behind us lets have a little fun with this. Maybe it will help some of you trying to score bucks from your own TC pics and the ones you see while on stand. I've put together these trail cam pics of bucks that were later killed and scored for gross B&C scores in hard antler. Each of these 3 bucks in Round 1 are Mississippi bucks. Every year we have hunters posting trail cam pics of velvet bucks & asking for scores so the 1st 2 are bucks in velvet. Don't want to make Round 1 too easy for you. Post your estimate of the score of each buck rounded off to the closest inch in gross B&C score. No need to go to the 8ths of an inch. In about 5 days or so I'll post the actual gross scores rounded off the the closest inch. Then I'll put together TC pics of 3 more bucks for Round 2 in another thread. Buck Number 1 These 2 pics were the best I had showing this buck's 8 point rack. Buck Number 2 You get 4 angles for this velvet 10 point thanks to having almost 300 pics of him. Unfortunately all the closeup shots are IR pics. Buck Number 3 These are the best 3 pics I had of this 9 point. Well maybe if you think the G4 on the left scores as a point. Post um! Rhino
I'm going to sweeten the pot on my little friendly forum contest. I have enough TC pics of bucks that were killed & scored for gross scores for 3 Rounds with 3 bucks in each round like this one. Each forum member will get 1 entry to estimate the gross scores of each buck. If you forget that rule, your 1st post will be the one that counts. The winner of each round will be determined by the total difference in inches (no 1/8ths) over or under of all 3 bucks from the gross scores. For example...if you are 5 points off on the 1st buck, 3 points off on the 2nd, and 4 points off on the 3rd...your score is 12. Round 1 will end at NOON (central time) this Thursday Aug. 26. I'll start Round 2 that afternoon. I will send the winner of each of the 3 Rounds an official B&C scoring tape like this one. In the event of a tie for a round we'll have multiple winners of that round. So...3 chances to win. If by chance the winner of Round 1 wins Round 2, 2nd place will be awarded the prize. Same goes for Round 3 on the prior 2 Rounds so we'll have different prize winners from each round. I'll post kill pics with the gross scores of each of the 3 bucks at the end of each round. Anyone arguing that it's not the same buck in the TC pics will be ignored. It will be! Good luck. BTW...this is by no means an official Realtree contest, just my way of getting y'all fired up about the coming season. So far the leader is.......????? You didn't really think I'd tell ya did ya.:clown: Edited August 23, 2010 by Rhino
