I'm going to high school! I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect. I can't wait!!:D

Well...the ladies are going to be more appealing...I can still remember that part.

Enjoy it.... You look back before long and say "Wow, was it really that long ago?!"

That's for sure!

You can expect one of the biggest transitional phases of your life. Make the most of it.

Be where you're supposed to be on time.

Get involved. Students involved in extracurricular activities statistically have better time management skills, get better grades, have lower absentee rates, and are more successful after high school.

Ask for help when you need it, and most of all, as noted before--be yourself. Peer pressure and the pressure to try and please other people (not always the right people) will be intense at times, but if you stay true to yourself, you'll be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you did everything possible to succeed.

Good luck!

Yep, or you will end up a button pusher like me who stays on the forums waaaaay too much. :D

All joking aside, Tominator actually gave you some very good advice.

Very well put. I'm going into my senior year and this about sums it up. Don't be friends with people who only accept you because of what you can do for them.

uhhh... you can learn as much or as little as you want. you don't really need to do much in highschool in order to just get by. however, the more you apply yourself in highschool, the more options will be open to you after highschool to do whatever you want to do. don't worry about getting into a little trouble, but think rationally.

What to expect? Expect to be overwhelmed, to be challenged, to face ever increasing peer pressure, to be sad, and to be happy. You will not be overwhelmed, except the challenge, rebuke the peer pressure, embrace the sadness and rejoice in the happiness, but do not expect to be happy all the time. Stay active and get involved, but most of all, enjoy the experience.

I was homeschooled 4th-8th grade and was partially homeschooled through high school. Stay on top of your school work or it'll all catch up with you in the long run. Enjoy these years, NEVER trust high school guys (trust me; I was one once :D ) and just be yourself! Freshman year was my favorite, but it flew by WAY too fast. Hard to believe I'm a Junior in college now!

My best advice:

You are there to learn, everything else is immaterial. You should have fun but only after your obligations to school work, home work, and responsibilities are complete.

And most importantly.....if a boy tells you he loves you he is 99.999% of the time LYING to talk you into something. Boys don't have it in their beings the ability to love anything besides hormonal impulses at that point. Except for perhaps cars. Some decisions can never be taken back and some even yet come with lifelong consequences. Be your own young lady and decide your standards and stick to them no matter how "beautiful your eyes are" or "oh I love you so much" or especially "but it's prom" or "everyone is doing this or that". Some things you do, you can lose the respect of others permanently. Even worse is when you lose your respect for yourself.

It will be what you make of it. If you focus on the bumps and bruises, it will be no fun at all. If you live, laugh and love it will be great.

This is all good advice. Remember everything you do for the rest of your life will depend on how well you do in High school. Which college you get into depends on how well you do in highschool. Which job you get depends on how well you do in college.

You are about to start your life as an adult. You will have a thousand chances to ruine your life. Remember to work hard, use common sense and surround yourself with good people and make good choices. It will be hard, tuff, painfull and embarressing. However, it will also be fun and exciting. You get out what you put into it.
