I haven't been on much lately as most of you have probably noticed, or not; but either way, its been a long and tough year so far...Our goal this year was to try and sell our house, get married, and move back to central/southern IL...We couldn't sell the house to save our lives, and i was forced to resign from my job back in march....I worked odd jobs here and there while trying to find employment down south...We got hitched on June 26th, and after a good weeks rest, and relaxation, we decided to try and lease our house out. We got a "for rent" sign and stuck it in the yard, and told the realtor to add that to our listing. We were almost instantly overwhelmed with phone calls and inquiries regarding the house, and within 2 weeks and after all the background and credit checks, we had a nice family from florida moving in...We completely uprooted everything we own and had to stick it in a storage unit down in Charleston IL because we didn't have a place to live just yet...Its so hard to find a place to rent when you have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and we kept getting shut down. Finally, we caught a break, and got a place down in Marion County IL....a nice house on 40 acres, pretty cheap rent and all pets allowed....Now the last step in this whole process is me getting into a new career field....Ive been looking hard and saturating the area with applications and resumes, but haven't had any luck yet....Once i get what i am looking for, i will be able to confidently say that we made it through the tests and trials of this chaotic year...

I figured, while i am still unemployed, and have people wanting to pay for me to attend taxidermy school, i decided to go for it...So here i am, in Macomb illinois, finishing up my second to last day of Taxidermy school with a very well know taxidermist - Locie Murphy. It has been a great week and i have learned so much...For all of you who don't know taxidermy, there is an unbelievable amount of time, detail and focus that goes into making a darn deer mount...i am super excited to get done and start excersing my new skills.

Anyhow, i figured i would stop in and say hi to everyone and let you all know whats been going on on my end...I know ive probably missed a lot, both good and bad, but as my life slowly begins to re-structure itself, i will be on a little more at a time.

Take care all,

Dan

Good to hear from you Dan. I was just looking at your profile last night to see when the last time you had posted. You sure are having a tough time, but don't feel bad about it, there's a lot of us out there that could be just one step away from beating the pavement looking for work (including me), and a lot more already there. I wish the best for you and the wife, and hope things look up for you guys soon.

PS - Next time just shoot the cats to improve your odds of finding a place to rent. :D

take care my friend.

Well, heck, Dan! Let's see a picture of this mount! :D I'm really excited to see it. So are you planning on making this a part time or full time thing? I'm finishing up my Associates in Business and then planning on moving up to the Boundary Waters for a semester-long Taxidermy program at Vermilion Community College in Ely, MN.

Dakota :)
