dbHunterNY
I've been busy getting the new house to feel like home and doing work outside to get the property ready for deer season. Is it too late to put in a perennial food plot up here in the northeast?? Should I put in something toward late season attraction like winter rye for now or should I just go ahead and plant a perennial blend of seed and have it fully established next year? It'll be only an acre or less.
dogdoc
Unless you have done all the prep work---early weed control and soil sample I would wait until next year to get started. Plus I think your clover could suffer some winter damage planting this late. If it was me I'd go ahead and just plant some ryegrain and wheat. Rye has the longest winter growing period with the cereal grains and should get you through the hunting season. good luck todd
dbHunterNY
I've decided to do both. I'm trying out Antler King's Honey Hole. It's best planted late summer to early fall; says that on the bag anyway.
