Muleyman
I know this isnt the room for this but I know I will get more replys in here because its urgent. Hunting season starts in almost 1 day and I am going to be videoing alot of my brothers hunts when Im not hunting. I will be using a tri-pod because with our camera it is almost impossible to stay steady wuth because it is so light. Im gonna be doing spot and stalk hunting and am worried about the deer seeing the tri-pod because it is black. Is this something that I should be worrying about or not?Keep in mind, this will be spot and stalk hunting. Any imput would be greatly apprectaited!!!!! Tominator
I'd say take it. Put a few strips of masking tape on it and camoflage it.
Fawn09
Maybe you could try camo tape...?
Muleyman
Then I wouldnt be able to extend it or anything tho. I am thinking about making something that I can slide over top on it thats camo?
92xj
Get 3 gun socks, Paint them grass colored. Tape to top of tri-pod, tape other of sock at other end of the legs. Will be able to extend inside the sock.

I am thinking about making something that I can slide over top on it thats camo? i've got shooting sticks/bipod i use for my guns. they extend and are black. I just got cheap camo duct tape and taped the top 1/3 of them. the bottom 2/3 is usually in weeds, brush, or grass anyway. you could get a spray can and paint them too. texastrophies
As long as it is not a shiny or glossy black that will reflect don't worry about it. It won't be the color that causes you problems, it will be the movement that the deer will see, regardless of color.
redkneck
Folks in here with way more experience than me, but I'd suggest a flat black unipod. Depending on your terrain and cover, a tripod may be a pain to get set up and level.
Jeramie
As long as it is not a shiny or glossy black that will reflect don't worry about it. X2. I agree 100%. If it really bugs you though Ducktape brand makes a camo tape.
redkneck
Yep, but when you factor in the "stink factor" you've accomplished nothing. Smell a roll of duct tape and you'll decide against that idea.

Is not folding the legs out so that Its like a unipod, and if needed I can fold it out and use it as a tri-pod. And It isnt shiney but I am just worried about them seeing it when we are moving. Do u think there is something camo that I can make to slide over that? and thanks for all the help so far guys!
Rhino
I wouldn't bother wagging something around to put over it since you're spot & stalk hunting. That's just risking more movement. If you were going with a sitting set, that would be different. If you want to take something along just in case you need it, it won't weigh you down. If you had camo tape to put over the upper part that might make you feel better but I doubt it will make much difference than a flat black tripod. I have a unipod with a camera attachment for the top I've used before with stalk hunts and run & gun turkey hunts. It's the way to go when you're on the move IMHO. You really don't have time to get one before your season opens but it may be something you want to look at when you have the chance. It's a lot thinner profile item for your game to see than a tripod. A whole lot lighter too.
redkneck
As long as your not glossy, I wouldn't worry about it. If you're that worried about it, take an old longsleeve camo t-shirt and tie the neck of it tight around the top of the tripod and let the shirt just hang down over the outside of the 3 legs to break up the outline. I wouldn't worry about it, and surely would not start painting and taping.
Strut10
25 years ago, I just went and bought a cheap but servicable tripod at K-Mart, of all places. I think I gave around $20 for it. Brought it home and hit it with some flat, spray paint in O.D. and black. The thing is still going strong and it's never been spotted by deer or turkey. That is what I did too....Been using it for years with turkey and deer......They will spook from YOU moving not the camera or tripod. good luck its a lot of fun!
