NiteRunner
I Love my Truck!! But, I flooded the engine a couple weeks ago... and now whenever I turn the truck off for a couple minutes and then try and start it back up it won't start up. After it sits for awhile it starts up with no problems. But say when I stop and get gas and it's only sat for 5 minutes it won't turn over unless I put the peddle to the floor and treat it like it's flooded. What did I do? And how can I fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Goinghuntin
You drive an F150 right? If you do, it's got a fuel-injected engine which should never flood. My guess would be a bad fuel-pressure regulator that isn't closing when the engine is shut off and allowing the excess fuel in the lines to drain into the cylinders. Shaun_300
More than likely injectors sticking open and leaking fuel down into the cylinders after the engine is turned off. If it sits for a while it evaporates and will fire up right away. Even after the truck is turned off you still have some fuel pressure at the rail, if there's a leaky injector or more, it'll leak the fuel into the cylinder until the pressure is gone. When an injector is turned off it shouldn't let any fuel into the cylinder until it's pulsed. If the little valve inside is sticking it'll leak fuel through it when it's not supposed to. You'll need to take it to a shop and they'll do an injector balance test and see which injector(s) need to be replaced.
NiteRunner
I did not know that an F-150 should never flood. So it's a bad fuel injector? I'll have to get it to the shop soon and get that taken care of. It needs an oil change as well, so I might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. Thanks guys! I'm sure I'll have more questions soon, so stay tuned!
Shaun_300
That's what it sounds like Laura, can never guarantee diagnosing online. I'm pretty sure that's what it is though. Good idea to get the oil change done on it, some gas probably sneaked by the piston rings and is now in your engine oil. That's never a good thing either.
