well so far im have a tuff season, only seen 5 deer so far in the stand, and a ton along side the road on the way home, to day i thought i would use my crossbow i bought from my sister, i shot field pionts out of it and shot pretty good, had a doe at 26 yards, it has a 3 dot scope on it so i put the 20 yard dot on its back and the 30 hit the lower portion on the deer, and let it fly the deer jump one time and looked around as to say what was that couldnt beleave i missed her, went and shot it to see what was the deal, with the broad heads i was shooting about 2 ft high and about a 1 and 1/2 ft to the left, well after ruining to bolts, i retired it, i think i'l stick with my mathews, if i would have had it. i would have had a doe for sure, seasons still young and plenty of time, maybe when it cools down a bit things will get better.

Well guys, bucks are starting to respond to a grunt tube here. Called in a little 6 pointer last night. He came on a string. Hope to get out Thursday. Things are supposed to cool down to a high of about 50 here with lows in low 30s. I'm going to start rattling a little bit. Hopefully the big bucks are starting to get a little angry and want to fight and they find an Easton arrow shaft sticking out of their side.. LOL

On the up side, I went out tonight and shot a squirrel. My first ever with a bow. I would post a picture but it's pretty gruesome. I shot him with a broadhead and hit him right behind the head in the neck and almost decapitated him. It definitely increased my confidence to shoot like that.

Good luck to all. Hope the season gets better here as the pre-rut gets kicked off and things start cooling down.

How's it going folks? I finally got back in the woods today,I sat from daylight until about12:00 and seen nothing but squerells. I took down my stand and the walked out from the back logging road. I was walking not thinking of seeing anything, didn't even have on my head net and gloves, they were in my backpack with my rangefinder. I was walking down the logging road and looked up on a little flat and there laid a big doe looking at me at about 60 yards. I acted like I didn't see her and kept walking for about 15 more yards when I got to a place she couldn't see me,I managed to sneak up to about 30 yards before she stood up to watch me. We had a stair down for about 15 min and she finally took a couple step to get broadside and offer a shot, she was nervous k owing something was up. I took the shot at 30 yards up a steep hill and when I pulled the trigger on the release she turned an I missed. She ran up the hill and stopped, and then walked to the top. I sat down to eAt a bite before checking my arrow,I heard something behind me and here she came walking ba k downthe hill to the same place. She was behind me for 20 min,I got my range finder out and ranged her at 40 yards,I was only k ees and turned around, ranged her again and drew my bow,she knew the jig was up and took off before I could get another shot. I'm not upset for the miss but am upset that I lost a perfectly good carbon express maxima hunter with a good muzzy head. O well, atleast I know where I'll be on my next day off.

Well teammates...I missed a really nice 6 pt. yesterday morning...They are really reacting to the grunt tube and rattling...Called in another buck last evening...Didnt even get the grunt tube hung back up and he come trotting in...But I did find my buck from last week...He was in the only part of our property that we didn't look...From where i shot him, he went about 3/4 of a mile...Never expected him to go where he did...We thought he went down across the road to the creek...

Hey everyone! Sorry I have not been on in a while. :( I have been busy with homework, soccer, and basketball. I'm getting really excited about deer season. It opens this Saturday. Dad says we have to get up at 4:30am to get all my stuff ready. Dad bought hot chocolate, little butterfingers, and beef jerky for me to eat in the stand. I went out for the youth hunt about a month ago but I did not get anything. Dad says it was too warm for the deer to move. We did not even see anything but, I only got to go one day because I had a soccer tournament. We are going out Saturday and Sunday all day. I hope I get a big buck. Dad says there are a couple big bucks out there. Dad said that I can shoot a bunch of doe because there are too many. We are going to stack them like cordwood dad said. :D:D Good luck everyone!

Hey guys got back from Maryland and shot a 5 pointer and a doe. It was a great trip had a blast the buck only ran about 70 yards, the doe ran about 100 yards and when I found her was still alive I walked up on her not knowing she was there. I got within feet of her before I saw her she was in ba shape I had hit one lung and she wasnt running, I backed out and came back 30 min later and she was done. The buck I called in from across a fence with my grunt tube. Hit him with the new blood runner and he took off like a rocket and piled up in the bean field 70 yards not hard to find him. My season is still going here in florida so I will wait to post to be sure I dont get something bigger! Good luck guys!

im still out there havent forgot about the team, havent had much time to hunt this year, not as much as last year, but did take part in the killing of a spike last weekend, well i shot it at 26 yards in the shoulder made a clean pass threw, but it didnt fall fast enough before it ran in front of my sisters blind, who than shot it with her 243. and being she was the last to shoot it i made her tag it, so i still have 2 buck tags left, same morning i took a 136 lb boar hog, have had some close inconters in my blind but its realy hard to draw when the deer are only feet away looking right at you, got cought twice this weekend, 1 i couldnt hold my bow up as long as she wanted to look at me and had to lower it, getting me busted, 2nd was using a pee bottle and when i lifted me head we were eye to eye dont know who was more shocked. but i have plenty of time left in the season and have got my sights on 2 real good 8 points.

Congrats Avery on a really nice buck! I'm still down and out after having my tonsils out. I went out last night of 1st shotgun season here and had a shot at a really small doe and passed. I can't bow hunt till after Dec 5 but our 2nd shotgun season opens up Dec. 2 here and I'm planning on hitting the woods hard then till Dec 5 which is the last day. If I don't do any good then, then we have our muzzleloader only season here the following weekend and I'll be hunting the best property I have permission to hunt during that season.

Good luck to all!

Hey guys, looks like some of you have had some good luck. It's been a realy bad year for me so far,I ha net had much time to hunt with working ot and the family things. I have been out a few times and haven't seen but 8 deer all season, this is the worst hear I have ever had. They are logging the farm I hunt on and everything has been pushed out to somewhere else,I'm lucky to see a deer unless it has two tracks and a scraper blade on it. Rifle season has came and gone and very few sightings with know sign whatsoever. I still have late muzzleloader and more bowhunting so I'm not giving up,got a trip annex to the other end of the state in a few weeks so maybe I'll have a little better luck then. Good luck to all.

Well guys, after having to sit out first shotgun season here in IL due to getting my tonsils removed, I finally connected on a buck tonight during our second shotgun season. He's a 7 pt, would have been an 8, but he never grew a brow tine on his right side. I think he will score in the low 130s. I will get him submitted and post a story tomorrow!
