Hey Gang...I got out there Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon. This morning it was raining so I slept in. I didn't hunt in the pm so I could get home early and help my son Joe cut up a doe he shot yesterday afternoon back here at home. The moon was full the last few days and I think the animals had other plans than to step out in front of me where I was hunting :(.

But my trail cam tells me this is a hot a spot to be sitting.

This weekends trail cam stars.

Has to be over 300lbs. Look at the stubby legs!

Some very good bucks for the area which is in the 3rd year of antler restrictions( 3 on one side).

That 3 pt rule does make a difference, Anthony. Great trail cam pics.

I hope you can catch up to one of those animals. Nice bear, too!

Congrats on the great buck ruttinbuc. I haven't had much time to spend on stand yet this year but tomorrow I'm heading out for 4 straight days of nothing but bow hunting. Hopefully I'll be able to connect on some points for the team. The weather is supposed to be perfect and they should be rutting hard. Good luck to everyone else who gets to spend time in the woods this weekend.

RuttinBuc congrats on the great Buck! i went out this mornign and seen 10 deer. that cold snap last night had them moving well past 11am this morning. All does and fawns excet for a young 8 pointer. The only one that came within bow range was a small doe fawn to ten yards. They're starting to scrape like crazy so i expect to see these bucks start chasing does within the next couple days. Good luck guys!

Congrats on your first gzilla! You'll remember this one a LONG time :).

I will be out this Thursday with my son Joe behind our house, who by the way will be sitting in my stand tomorrow morning up at our hunting camp. You know...the one with the big bucks and bears coming on by. I don't want to wish him bad luck or anything...He is my son you know.

BUT...

he IS on another team :D

Good Luck to the rest of ya.

Was out today in the pouring rain seen big bucks chaseing does and trying like heck to find a scent trail. It was like they were lost and trying to get home. The rain and thunder and lightning bothered me a whole lot more than those love sick bucks. Sure alot of fun watching that, just nerve racking when they get so close and won't stop long enough for a shot.

Better luck tomarrow and Sunday.

How they doing in your guys's woods?

Well rifle season is over for me. I got out for the last time on Friday, however it officailly ended today. I had to work all weekend. Still got till the end of the year for archery. There's meat in the freezer, and no more doe tags. So its bucks only, I'm hoping to be able to get one bigger then the spiker I got last week.

Hey Gang...congrats to all who have gotten bloody so far this year. I have lots of time on stand and nothing to show for :(. But my trail cams have me quite encouraged. So I keep plugging away. Our gun season starts this coming Saturday. My buddy from the Texas Hill country is coming up to hunt with me again :). I'll be on vacation for two weeks, so I will be pounding those woods hard.

Good luck Team.

Thanks Mike.

Just in case I do not get to check in here. I want to wish everyone a safe and lucky season. Our firearm season here in NY's southern zone kicks off on Saturday. I am expecting a friend from Texas and North Carolina to be joining me at my deer camp in NY's Catskill Mtns this Thursday. I am quite excited about this season.

Good Luck to all.

Hey Guys.. Sorry i havent check in, in a bit. Been hunting hard every day off from work. Hit a small rack buck on veterans day but the shot was a little forward and took the shoulder. Tracked for hours but the blood just ended up stopping. Gun season open here in the souhtern zone yesterday...had a button at 40 yards that i let walk. Seen a snall 4 point chasin 2 does but none of the 3 gave me a shot. Our Gun season is 22 days long...and i only have to work 6 1/2 days of them. So hopefull ill be able to put one of the ground soon. Good luck yall.

Hey guys...been hunting hard here with nothing to show but for a valuable lesson learned.

STAY OFF THE PHONE TEXTING WHEN YOUR HUNTING!

Man...I was on the phone texting...head buried in phone when I look up and see white bone and a rump hook a turn into the bush. This buck had to be walking straight at me for a bit and I was pre occupied with my phone. :bang:

1 hour and 40 minutes later...about 500 yards away...my neighbors kid, in a stand on our land(he has permission)...kills this wonderful 8pter, over 100".

Lesson learned for sure. Got some good vid of a small spike that was playing by my stand for a bit. One of our guys shot a yote, nice color on it too. Very reddish. A lot of does got passes this past few days. Oh yeah...got a cool sequence of pics on the trail cam. My son seeing does, rising his gun, aiming and letting them pass...no horns. We are also in a 3 on one side area. When I pulled that card from the cam to get those pics, I also saw that the 10pter is still alive. He is visiting around 2 in the morning.

Heading back up today at noon with lots of leftovers:D.

I have next week off also. Will be doing my best to get it done.

Good Luck team and hunt safe!
