elnor
Great buck, congratulations! Our weekend was a bit of a bust. We did get out and hunt but it was rainy and windy with very little deer movement. Nothing was secured for the freezer or the taxidermist. Hoping for better weather and another trip to the woods soon.

ilhnter
Been slow in S. Illinois. Haven't seen much at all the first month of the season. Hopefully movement picks up in the next week or so. I'm on vacation from the 7 - 15th and plan to be in the stand everyday. Hopefully I can get us some more points......good luck everyone! elnor
Welcome, Shane. And congrats on your 10 point! I'm looking forward to seeing a picture and getting more info on him once you get him entered into the contest thread. It's been slow for us so far, too. Seems like the rut still hasn't fired up full bore here yet. Fingers crossed, things should get better soon.
ShaneB
i will get him up as soon as my taxidermist sends me a pic of my tag and good luck all
pointing_dogs_rule
Congrats on that nice 10 point ShaneB!!! We want pics!!! I'm still out there archery hunting. Since I shot that 10 point I'm concentrating on two deer. The split brow buck and a new buck that has shown up in my area. (Shown below). I am not sure what is going on with the left side of his rack but it looks cool. Any Ideas? Not sure if he will add points to the team if I do get him. I was out last night and had this 8 point come by at 20 yards (see below). He is nice but not what I am looking for at this time. Really neat to see a rack like that. I have until Dec. 3rd to connect on these guys. Good luck to all the dog

ilhnter
Nice buck Shane! Almost had one that look similiar this morning. He came up the ridge chasing a doe and got to 7 yds of the tree but he was quartering to me at a steep angle and I didn't feel good about the shot. They then took off back down the ridge away from me. Almost had us more points. Won't be out tomorrow, but will be back at it on Saturday - Monday. They are finally starting to move in S. Illinois. Good luck everyone!
pointing_dogs_rule
The last week has been realy slow (major rut has passed). Tonight a storm front moved through and all he** broke loose. Deer running everywhere. If the object was to shoot small bucks, then I'd be the best!!!!! good luck to all the dog

ilhnter
Illinois shotgun season this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to add to our score. They were still chasing and cruising as of Monday morning, so hopefully they'll still be on their feet this weekend. Good luck everyone!! elnor
I'll be back after them next week, planning to hunt from Wednesday morning through at least the end of the weekend and if possible maybe 2-3 days after that. We've had a very slow rut here. I'm hoping things are just a bit delayed, but we'll see.
ilhnter
Sorry guys.........killed a doe and a spike opening day of Illinois shotgun season, but we had a camera malfunction and didn't get any pics of the tag or me with the deer. I still have until mid Jan to bow hunt, so hopefully I will get a deer and the pics.

Jeramie
Ive been out and busy too. I did manage to kill a dink 7-point last weekend. Have pics, just need to take a shot of my liscense and should be good to go. Unfortunately you can only see 6-points in the pics (friend took the picture). Regardless, thats more for the team! Hope everyone is having a good season so far....

elnor
I also killed a 7 point, on the evening before Thanksgiving. He's actually what us southeastern Oklahoma boys would call an 8 point but his right brow is less than an inch so I suppose he's a 7 for the Realtree contest. I'm uploading pics and will get him entered in the contest thread asap. [update: I entered him here.] Meanwhile, here are a couple of pics (click either one to see a bigger copy of it). Him where he fell on top of a creek bank: and me with him: I'm hoping to get out a time or two more this month for some doe management. Hope everyone else is enjoying time afield with family and friends, too! Edited December 1, 2010 by elnor
