fly
I'll be the first to check in. Primary mission is meat hunting this year, I'd like to fill the freezer with 3 or 4. Big bucks are always welcome though. >Frank

92xj
I'm here. Not to thrilled about this season. Washington state does it weird where you can only hunt one of the three weapon seasons. Still have not decided if I am going to hunt archery or rifle. Also, you only get one deer in this state and it has to be greater than a 6pt. Hunting all public lands, so its going to be difficult for me. I will get a week to hunt in South Carolina over Christmas but being late in the season its hard to see one let alone tag one. I will do my best guys. buckandbull
Hi all, I hunt in western NY. We get plenty of tags here. So I will be shooting the does for meat and waiting on a good buck. Good luck to all this season!!!!
need2hunt
Hey everyone! Glad to be hunting with you this season! All I know about this season so far is that I will be chasing moose in Alberta the beginning of October and then I have a Muzzleloader tag for Pike county and a gun tag for JoDavies. Past that I will be bowhunting when I get the chance. I'll check in when I can. Good Luck! G
Texan_Til_I_Die
Well, I just got back from a long weekend of too much beer drinking and not enough dove shooting. The ranch I was hunting looked really good considering it's basically desert. We've had a lot of rain over the summer and everything was really grown up. Should be a great year for antlers. I left a couple of trailcams out and I'll see what they show when I go back out there in a couple of weeks. Does are plentiful, in fact we usually have problems making ourselves shoot enough. For bucks, we try to run a pretty tight trophy operation and only shoot mature bucks or the occasional animal that obviously doesn't have the type of genetics we're looking for. I've also got a couple of small bow hunting spots close to home that look promising this year. I had my trailcams out on them until last week and I've got a couple of shooter bucks showing up during daylight hours. So we'll see how that works out. Looking forward to hearing from everyone and following the team's progress throughout the season. Good luck!
Texan_Til_I_Die
You guys want to come up with a team name? I'm not very good at that kind of thing, but I'll throw out a couple to start with. How about... 92xj
Team, I am stepping out of the competition. I have talked with jcwa and flintlock is going to take my place on the team. The reason I am stepping out is because I am not sure if I am going to be able to get into the woods to deer hunt this year. I have not figured out this state to find good lands and some other financial issues have come up which I believe will allow me not to get out in the deer woods. So, for me knowing now and to not jepordize the team by knowing a head of time that I might not get a deer or even be able to get out and hunt, I am letting my spot go to someone who will actually be able to get out and hunt and has a good chance at getting a deer or two. I wish yall the best and will be pulling for you. I just dont want to see the team fail because I couldnt even get out to deer hunt. Good Luck all. fly
Hey 92xj, you know you're going to bag a 180 incher now. Hope you are able to get out a little. Any name is fine with me.
92xj
Hahaha, that would be my luck. The single time I get to go out and smoke a monster. Well, at least my replacement has already got a deer on the ground and points for you guys. He just needs to submit it into the comtest now. Texan_Til_I_Die
These are the two best deer I'm seeing close to home. One is at a 250 acre place that I hunt that is just outside of town to the south and the other is on a little 225 acre place about 7 or 8 miles north of town. I really like having these places so close, even though they aren't likely to produce any monsters. But it's sure nice to be able to go hunting in the mornings before work or in the afternoons after work. And I plan to do both frequently! Here's the 10 point I like that's on the place south of town: And this 8 point has been hanging around on the place that's north of town: Now I just hope the cameras I put out at the big ranch in West Texas show some of those bigger deer. 92xj
I am not sure why Flintlock has not checked in with you guys. I have sent a PM and I believe jcwa has as well. Hopefully he will do so soon, since he already has a deer on the ground which would be points for you guys.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Archery season opens here on Saturday. The weather, for a change, looks fairly decent. Lows around 50 and highs in the mid 70's. As long as the weather looks promising, I'll probably hunt somewhere every day.
