He had a split brow on his left side, but one of the points was too short to count, but in my eyes he's a redneck 8. That is awesome! be sre and measure that one point reeeaaallllll good! lol:D:D:D:D:D:D congratulations and I'm glad you found him. I've had a couple of people on here tell me that mine was a 9 point but the G-4 on his left main beam was legally to short. By redneck standards I could call him a 10 point. LOL Congrats again! Hunt or be Hunted Posted October 27, 2010 Report Share Posted October 27, 2010 I'm still alive! Lol. Have not made it out into the woods the past 2 weeks. Had some stuff go on with the family. I am hopefully gonna go out tomorrow night. Maybe get my first deer with the bow! Deer are really starting to get on their feet here in Illinois. This part of Illinois anyway. Been seeing some little ones running a few does. Hopefully before to long the big ones will be doing that! Looking forward to the IL Shotgun season. Right in that time the rut really kicks in! You guys are making me feel guilty - might have to actually shoot something this year to help the team win. I don't carry my gun much anymore....just enjoy teaching my kids and watching them. That is bowhunting, it can be the highest of highes and the lowest of lows. You guys rock, I come back from Ohio and we've gained some more points and still in the lead. Keep up the good hunting and put'em down. I got back from Ohio yesterday and it was a great week up there. I wasn't able to get us any more points but was able to kill two more deer. I shot a Doe on Tuesday weighing 140 pounds. I shot a decent 8 point on Wednesday but hit a branch before it got to him and hit him in the ham. Tracked him for about 1,000 yards and lost blood trail. Thursday I shot another 8 point, nothing big but a good kill none the less. It was a great for seeing deer and saw deer everyday out of the stand. The pre-rut was on and the bucks were on the move looking for Doe's. I will post some pictures later today. Good luck to all of you and keep hammering on those points for us. dodgeman1 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Share Posted November 12, 2010 dodge just checkin in . missed two deer this weekend. a 120ish buck at 20 yards, and a doe at 30ish both were jumpy and ducked the string. rifle season opens saturday and there is a huge 12 point hangin near my deer stand so fingers crossed. all i have to report . congrats to all who have scored so far , and good luck to all who haven't yet. We need to win this thing!!! Well, you can add 15 more points for the team! I shot a 5x5 mule deer this weekend with you guys in mind. I normally don't shoot a deer but enter the contest just in case I pull the trigger and knowing we had a chance to win this thing I went ahead and did it. Hard to believe this is my first mule deer - just never really hunted them and technically I was scouting bighorn sheep for a buddy when I shot him. I will get him entered as soon as I can. Team one had a great weekend for bucks and should be in the lead now but not by much. If we can get some more deer on the board we should be good to go. Here are a couple pics - I'm a little disappointed that my hunting partner taking photos of me with the deer didn't do a better job, but that's the way it goes when you are in a hurry sometimes and I certainly appreciated the help getting this beast out of the woods.
