waterfowler_gal
I was wondering what is your weather like around the Black Hills April-May and also what kind of camo would you suggest for turkey hunting out there with the pines and all? Thanks so much! Any information is appreciated!

borch
Re: SOUTH DAKOTAN\'S Well in the 5 years I've gone oput there I've seen 3'+ snowfalls followed by 95 degree weather. Make sure you bring a bit of everything. As far as camo goes many work well. It's mostly pines with fairly open understory. I've used advantage, hardwoods in different versions and also MO shadowgrass. All have worked well for me. A big thing is to get in shape and have good footwear that is broken in. Bring plenty of water along. Also a compass is a necessity. It's definitely a run and gun approach. These birds cover 4-12 miles per day based on tracking studies. They are constantly on the move. I hunt a milk run of spots and often check back on spots a couple times a day. Don't get hung up on sign if you're not finding birds. They likely have moved on. But definitely check it out later. Good Luck! Borch
