Dakota
Shot a real nice gander this afternoon hunting over half a dozen dekes in a cut alfalfa field. It was 50 yards away and flew into a load of Federal Premium 3 1/2" 1 1/2 oz. BB. Dakota

92xj
Was it youth day? Totally kidding Dakota, just trying to get a laugh out of you! Congrats on the bird. Whats your plan with it? Not mounting this thing too, are you? How did you clean it and plans with the meat. let me know if you need ideas. I have been eating goose and trying new things for the past month. Some are great, others, not so much. Anyhow, congrats on the 10ga. brid. Too bad it didnt have any bling.

Yeah, Ben really is young looking isn't he? lol I actually just got him his first goose while pass shooting on Saturday; I shot a bird out of the same flock but we couldn't find it. Well, if ever I was to mount one (and I will at some point, just not now), this would have been the perfect specimen for it. Just breasted it out and grabbed the drum sticks as well (bet you didn't know birds were drummers did ya! ). Don't know what I'll do; usually we just cook the breasts like we would a roast, but I'm always up for new ideas. Might do that and then smoke the drummies. Dakota take the breast and slice a crossed the grain and make little steaks and fry like deer steak I bet there isn't much difference in taste (unless they are on a diet that's much different then here) also can dice up the meat and boil for about hour or until really tender then drain water and add sweet and sour and serve with rice are my 2 fav

Nope, don't mount any early season bird, wait for the real migrators to come through and mount a hog with a neck band :cool2:... As far as cooking - i generally smoke em whole and boy is it tasty...but if you are breasting em out, try the Lipton Onion Recipe....Its like eating roast beef...im serious, it'll be the best dang goose you ever ate. congrats again bud! Dan BTW - what on earth is on your finger? looks like a blue finger cast for an umpa lumpa... Dan BTW - what on earth is on your finger? looks like a blue finger cast for an umpa lumpa... Thanks for all the comments and recipes, folks! Yep, Dan, it's an NEF Pardner single and shoots like a dream! I broke my finger about three weeks ago catching a football wrong. It jammed my finger and actually broke the finger. So yeah...that's a cast of sorts... Dakota
