Shawn
New York has dropped DMPs by 50k this year. 2 of the units i hunt in were each lowered by 5,000 each(3n and 3f). My first DMP was for unit 7m where my fathers cabin is upstate. Was pretty sure id get it because i had a preference point from gettin denied last year. But i got Denied for my second choice 3n. So i only got one doe permit. Were there many cut backs in your state and/or unit?
ChrisSeb53
yep.... PA cut back on them as well... they also changed the app date to an earlier date so I ended up sending mine in a week late... I'm lucky I got one... and for the first time in my 10 years of hunting I didn't draw an extra doe tag... Oh well
Texan_Til_I_Die
Texas doesn't exactly do it that way, but the overall trend here is toward encouraging the harvest of more does. With somewhere between 4 and 5 million deer statewide, we need to take around 1.5 to 2 million every year just to maintain the status quo. TN Bucknasty
Here in West TN, each hunter is allowed 3 antlerless deer per day all season long for a grand total of 357 does and 3 bucks... RIDICULOUS!!! There are a few pockets with pretty high deer densities, but for the most part this is totally unnecessary. They already write hundreds of permits for farmers to shoot deer in the fields all summer. I talked to farmer the other day who killed 190 last summer. Luckily, most of us don't try to kill that many. I suppose that is what the TWRA had counted on. However, there are a few people out there who are taking full advantage of this and they are doing a lot of damage to the herd in some areas. Yep, sure there is an elevated degree of wanton waste taking place that has resulted from this too. County we are in does not have a high density to begin with, should never have been in a liberal unit in the first place. While I agree with a strategic doe harvest and rifle hunts for does I do not think it best to manage an entire county or groups of counties on the premise that hunters will do whats best for the herd and offer such liberal harvests. We have a few around us I know of who will shoot any and every deer they see, they do not eat them all either, disgusting imho. Can really do a good bit of damage to the herd in areas. gzilla45
After many years of liberal amounts of doe permits, Wisconsin is finally starting to get it right. The northern management units have few if any doe tags available. Hopefully this will help rebound our deer population up north.

JDAWG
I live in NY and I was "lucky" enough to get my 2 DMP's this year. One for 3C and one for 3M. We will see what happens...
dbHunterNY
i don't think things really changed much here in Unit 4. Unless you're in 4J you don't really get them. lol
