RTF
It's too early for that. Once Canada gets a hard cold front push through to the south, things ought to start happening. But down here in NY we are seeing plenty of geese and ducks flying. We have a huge population of geese and ducks of our own. usually I don't see the big push until November for around here. Dakota
Been seeing a lot of resident Giants (my absolute favorite, couldn't care less about lessers...though granted...I'll still shoot them in a heart beat if presented with an opportunity ) flying. Saw about 85 today and shot one (only had three come into the dekes). Story and pics coming soon. I really love those Giants! Dakota
Jeramie
Nope... not cold enough. We are suppose to be in the 90's today. We have teal comming through and the resident geese but thats it. Our duck season doesnt open until November.
92xj
Seen one flock of Canadas coming from the North. I would guess around 75 or so. They stayed away from the resident geese and landed in their own little corner on the river. First week of October is when they hit us hard. I was out glassing for ducks when I saw the black cloud coming towards me. Was not really sure what it was, being from the South and all, I have never seen a HUGE migration. About 15 minutes later the sky was black to the north and it sounded like a freight train. In front of me was a 100 yard wide "creek" off the Columbia river and the "black cloud" was headed for it. Next thing I knew the cloud turned into geese and they started breaking up and coming in, in groups of 50 to 300. By the time they had all got in, I would easily say there were 10,000 plus geese in this one wave. It was unreal. I will be out there again with the camera this year to try and capture it. 92xj
rain and a slight cold front came through this weekend. Behind the storm I saw 7 Canadas, they must have been lost or something. 7! thats it.
92xj
6:15 this morning had a wave of ducks coming in from the North. Roughly 250-350 birds heading towards the river! Hopefully this slight cold front we are having will stay for a while and have a second one behind it. These high 30s and low 40s mornings for the past 5 days have been great. 3 more weeks and it's time to hit the river.
Ravin R10 man
no major flights yet...geese are stacking up on Lake Superior near Duluth grain terminals..and head of bay near Ashland..think it's locals that have nested on or near the Lake..they are starting to fly out and feed with corn now being taken off for silage..not much for ducks
