swohiodave
I have a CVA optima and have not had the best luck grouping powerbelts. I would like to stick with my 2 777 pellets but am looking into tc shockwaves of barnes or hornady. What has anyone else had luck with? Tominator
I have a couple buddies that swear by the Powerbelts, but they group like crap out of my Encore. Almost as bad as Hornadys. I can get MOA off the bench with 250 grain Shockwaves using 100 grs of Pyrodex. I'd say try the Shockwaves.
Tecumseh
I didn't have any luck with powerbelts or the shockwaves in my Endeaver,I'm using Hornady 250gr sst low drag sabots with 110gr of Blackhorn 209. try some different bullets and powder charges till you find what your gun likes. turningcustomcalls
I've tried shockwaves and Hornady with 100 and 150 grains out of my optima and it's been tough to get a consistant group out of either. I've used open sites as well as a scope and no luck with either. It could very well be operator error, but I'm beginning to think it maybe the gun. swohiodave
Tominator, Are you using powder or pellets? I am thinking about trying the shockwaves and 2 777 pellets and seeing how that works. I had the powerbelts shooting great at 25 yards at an indoor range but once i went to 50 they were flying wild. FrontierGander
are these the older style optimas? My old optima loved 90gr Pyrodex P with a 348gr Powerbelt. 3 shots at 100 you could cover with a nickel. When you load up with your current set up, what do you do for the second shot? What primers are you using?
swohiodave
Remington #209 but im thinking of switching to the 777 primers as well. After the first shot i swabbed the barrel with a wet patch then a dray patch.
