Tony Posted September 19, 2010 Report Share Posted September 19, 2010 i just got home from my Montana trip. the trip was a partial success. i shot my first ever Mule deer. the elk were not bugleing and we had a hard time getting on them. i shot my mule deer as me and my guide were sneaking along a path. my guide stopped and said quietly "get an arrow now! as i was getting an arrow out of my quiver, he ranged him and told me he's 50 yards. i was looking but for some reason didnt see him at first, then up in the rocks there he was standing. i drew, placed the pin where it should be and slowly squeezed the trigger, the arrow flew perfectly and i drilled him. as he took off, my guide turned around and said congratulations on your first Mule Deer Tony. all i could mutter was i smoked him. LOL. Paul said you sure did. after a little blood trailing we found him piled up about 75 yards from where i shot him. finally one of my life long dreams was fullfilled. to take a mule deer buck with a bow. hes a pretty nice one for my first buck. im having him mounted and hes going to look great next to my antelope i shot last year in wyoming. ill post my whole trip in my hunting blog.
