92xj
a "private" room in the forums. There are some topics and post that me, as well as some others, would like to post to get the opinions of the folks here but dont really want the general public (people outside of RT) to be able to read. Not a room where its ok to cuss/curse or talk smack about people, we would still want to keep it "clean", but just an area to talk with trusted RT members and not have people who are not signed up here to read. I am not sure how this would be possible but on 3 other forums I am on they have them and it is really nice. I know this will never happen, so you folks will never get to hear my crazy, insane, weird story of the phone call I received today from a former lady friend. I also dont have the motivation to send out mass PMs to everyone here to share the story.
layin on the smackdown
i don't really don't post anything on here that i am afraid to share with the general public, however, i am not opposed to the idea koolaid...this is the only forum i am on, so i don't really know what you speak of in terms of "private", but i think i get the idea - members (long active members) conversing over semi and personal issues...im in i suppose. Actually life's been rough the last 8 months and i could use a room to vent in without posting it in the Lounge...
Dawg
As openly spoken as you are and you're afraid to post a simple phone conversation. Pathetic.
92xj
members (long active members) conversing over semi and personal issues...im in i suppose. Actually life's been rough the last 8 months and i could use a room to vent in without posting it in the Lounge... This is exactly what I am talking about. As openly spoken as you are and you're afraid to post a simple phone conversation. Pathetic. It has nothing to do with how open I am or not. A lot of people seem to forget about everyone putting their entire lives on the internet. Once this happens its very easy for people to search and find information on that person. I am totally against personal info on the internet that can be searched and gathered by the general public. This is why you will never see me on facebook or myspace. It's not that I have anything to hide, well...not a lot to hide, but its the fact thats its my life and no one elses. We all did a pretty damn good job of living, conversating with the ones we wanted to and learning about other people we were interesting in long before this internet crap came about. It has taken the lets get personal and chat part out of it. I am open and do post my mind and opinions but there are other things that I do not post that I dont want the general public to search for on google and find. Like Dan said, its would be a place to get opinions and help from trusted and respected members of RT. I know there are a lot of "older", "wiser" and "experienced" folks on here that I look up to and trust and would love to hear their opinions on subjects. Even though I come off as a pain in the ass, some punk kid that likes to stir the pot or any other way you people see me as, I actually do respect most of the folks here and do care about their opinions. I know people have a lot greater experience in things in life, just like I know I have more experience for certain things in life than they. Anyhow, it was just a suggestion that will most likely never happen, but now the thought it out there for the wondering minds to ponder. (meh, scratch the proof read on that one, sorry grammar nazi's for the run on sentences, misspellings or anything else grammar related.) Shaun_300
Kind of see where you're coming from Ben, but highly doubt it'll happen. If you want to share something that you don't want everyone to see, you should send a PM. If it's something you don't mind sharing with everyone, post it in the lounge. What difference does it make if all forum members see it or just forum members see it?
JimT
I dunno...if one needs to vent about personal issues on an internet forum versus with a family member or friend they need to take a long arsed look at themselves. This is not the place for it really.

The Kid
whats the difference between posting something to people on here or the public?? where do you think the people that post came from?? mars? If you have personal issues where you need to "get educated" there is a thing called the telephone.. How could you determine who is worthy of being in "this private club"?? Yes, I believe all the people that post come from mars. I had no idea I could call a telephone and it could tell me things that older and wiser people have experienced that I would like to learn about. Who said anything about a "private club"? This is not the place for it really. Why would you assume that I would pick the internet to discuss personal issues over friends or family? I for sure dont need a long look at myself. It was a suggestion that I had to see what the masses think. You dont like the idea. I get it.
Ethan Givan
I can see where your coming from, but think about how many members there are on RT. There are alot that get on here and read but do not post. If I dont want to talk about it in the forum then I will send a PM. There are 444 active members so to me, if you dont want the public reading what you say, then you dont want all of the 444 people reading what you say. PMs seem like the better way to go for things like that. If they did make a room private for only forum members then the Lounge would be the best. Its already the place where people talk about personal things. Leave the rest open to the public who want to read up on hunting topics and things. JMO. I dont see anything wrong with a private room, but Im not so sure of the purpose.
92xj
The idea was not really to keep any forum members from seeing the page, but people that do not sign up. Its just something I see a lot of on a lot of other forums. I honestly could care less if people who are members of RT see anything I type, but google searches would not pick up threads in a room where you had to sign up to visit the room. Ya know, maybe its just a horrible idea. Just trying to add some discussion to the forum and get ideas.
Ethan Givan
Ok I see the reason. It would be alright to have a room like that. What Im thinking though is personally, for me, if what Im talking about is that personal then Im not gonna want all the members to read it. Thats just me tho. Im a very private person when it comes to personal situations and I dont like telling 25 people about it, so several hundred is out of the question . However for people who dont mind sharing with RT members but dont want it accessable to everyone on the internet, then I agree a private room would be nice. I get tired of the whiny, negative posts though where people complain about things that don't really matter...or post to stir up trouble. It's one thing when something is happening in their lives, whether family, job, or personal, and they want to share it. But if it's a "negative nancy" all the time...well it gets boring. Things are changing on RT and it's atmosphere is not what it use to be.

If its not the same and changing maybe its time to move on, or maybe try and make an effort to change the forums back to how they were since it was so great back when. Dawg
Nothing stays the same......gotta learn to adapt. I bet ya a crisp George Washington that this turns into a "it's this type of peoples fault" thread. BTW- who is Nancy?
92xj
Maybe the mods should just ban all the "new" people that are changing this place to such a bad place and no where near as good and cool as it used to be. Mass banning? Swampy around? Am I first?

92xj
You know, it really doesnt bother me one bit that you think I post pointless things and my feelings dont get hurt and I sure as poo dont complain to the mods about it. But I know if people were to call others out and yourself about your threads being "pointless" there might be some hurt feelings and people would get bitter.
