This is the third year for the contest and its always been fun. However, if it turns out to "not" be fun and creates problems...it can be erased as well. These types of posts are for "good" nature ribbing and poking fun. Its what friends/buddys/family does, there is nothing wrong with it. Lets keep it clean and civil. This contest is not endorsed by Team Realtree...it is a product of hunters wanting to have some fun. If it turns into something that "isn't" fun...I'm sure Team Realtree will take over and delete the entire thing! There are a few folks on my team (myself included) that already made it clear that we will not shoot a jake. However, last hour...if my team needs one more bird to win...I'll take one for the team. In years past we have had several folks who didn't get a bird(tried very hard but it just didn't happen), folks who got bearded hens and jakes. Plus some real enormous toms! If hoyt19's goal is to have fun, share some photos and stories that's fine. If he shoots a nice tom it's a bonus! When I'm hunting with my kids my goal is always to get them a bird. I don't care if I get one. But I still enjoy it all the same. That and it's alway fun seeing RyanH dig a hole for himself before the contest starts. That's what it's supposed to be all about. I appreciate what borch and RT have done to add a little more fun to turkey hunting. Some friendly ribbing all in fun is fine but please don't let it get beyond that. You're only taking the fun out of it for the rest of us. Now if somebody doesn't think I'm a turkey hunting addict, well you're sadly mistaken. I'm blessed because I have a 45 day season and I can spend more time than most turkey hunters in the woods. I will go just about every day that the weather is favorable for the birds to gobble, any day of the week not because I'm on a quest to kill the biggest gobbler for my team either. I do it because I love turkey hunting and the hair still stands up on the back of my neck when a gobbler works in close. I also take time to take yougsters and older inexperienced hunters turkey hunting to pass on the tradition when they can go. I enjoy those hunts at least as much as I do hunting on my own. When I take someone else, I don't carry a weapon either. Those hunts are about them and the turkey hunting experience then, not me. I'll still have plenty of time to get my licks in.
