RangerClay
The bearded hen that I had in my sights last fall is showing herself in my trail cam pics again. Right now she is at the top of my turkey hit list. I have always wanted to shoot one of these trophies and I will have an arrow in my quiver just for her. For those of you who have shot a bearded hen, how did you preserve your memory? Right now a full mount is out of the question financially but I am looking for other options that I can use to display her in my man cave. If you have any pics that would be great or try to describe for me what you have.

This bearded hen comes to my food plot almost everyday. Last year she never gave me a clean shot. Anyone else?

Buckhunter76
Never had the opportunity, but by golly if I ever did, I would and have it mounted, I did have a buddy shoot one once, and the taxidermist sold it on him. Didn't get to see the bird, but seen pics, lol.

3seasons
I killed one that had a 9.5" beard. The next year it was made illegal to harvest a bearded hen in Mississippi's spring season. Took some pics and saved the beard. Fried her up, a lot more tender than an old beat up gobbler. They are not that uncommon around the places i hunt. But they are still a true trophy. I saw a white (salt and pepper) hen with a beard a couple years ago. Dakota
Okay, how can your taxidermist sell something that you shot and is rightfully yours without your permission? If my taxidermist did that to me I'd sue the pants off of him. I shot a really wierd looking bird in Wyoming in 2009; my taxidermist said he'd never seen anything like it before. It had a hybrid (henish/jakish) head, a small 2 1/2" beard, tiny bumps for spurs, was the size of a jake, had hen coloring and leveled off wing tips like it had been drumming. Here it is on the roost. Dakota
Flintlock1776
nope. I usually get close enough to make sure they have all their parts to qualify as a Tom :poke::poke::chat:

Squirrelhunter91
My buddy and I had a flock of 6 hens come in on us this weekend. Two were bearded. I couldn't get a shot but he did and he gave her a nice haircut, well feathercut. She turned last second and the arrow cut the feathers off her back. Will be back at it this weekend. WHISKEYSWAMP
shot a bearded hen in the Spring of '09 with a 7.5 inch beard... I'm having it done in a standing mount. Last I heard from the taxidermist is it was close to being done and he's waiting on the pedistal. That's been a while so I need to head over to see how things are coming along. VermontHunter
This bearded hen I took this spring 17lbs. 4oz. with a 9" Beard. I didn't have the funds for a true mount so I opted to do this myself .. I hope this helps abit .. I'm currently persuing a fall bearded hen, not of this caliber but yet a bearded hen. She's proving quite elusive. I even passed on a great gobbler for a try at her .. dummy me .. lol
