Hey guys,

Was wondering if any of you TN guys knew of any places to hunt close to Nashville. I will be working there from mid October till Feb. some time. Wanted to get in some hunting during the week while there. It looks like there are a couple of state lands that might be within 30 minutes. Didn't know if any of them stood out better to anybody. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a map of all of the wma's online on TWRA's website. I don't really know what to tell you about public land in TN though. Most of the places I've been have been a nightmare with way too much hunting pressure and people joyriding on 4 wheelers and such. If you work really hard at getting away from the other hunters, you can do well in a few places. Land Between the Lakes has some pretty good areas depending on how far you want to drive from Nashville. There is a code of conduct list for WMA's that you might want to check out. They have some rules like how you have to label your stand, etc.

LBL is where I would probably go to, but that is gonna be a bit more than 30 minutes from Nashville. Some good deer taken from that area every year. Might also check into Ft. Cambell, a bit closer to Nashville. Some great deer taken out of there every year, but I don't know what kind of requirements there are to be able to hunt there or if it is too late for this year.

Thanks guys for the help. I don't mind driving 30 to 45 minutes to hunt mornings. I drive over an hour at time back home. I looked at Ft Cambell just briefly and it looked like it was alot of weekend hunting and i will be going back to IL to hunt on weekends but maybe i will look into it a little bit more. Thansk again guys.
