If you were selling an object on craigslist would you allow a potential buyer to come to your home to look at the item?

Would you take the item somewhere and meet them for them to look at it?

What if the item was big, say, fourwheeler size, would you load it up, meet that person at a parking lot and let them look at it so they are not at your house.

If you keep that item inside would you bring it outside so the person would not come into your home?

What about garage? Do you want someone coming into your garage?

A 4-wheeler could easily be drove onto a trailer.

Now a freezer or some other large, heavy and hard to move object.......is a different story.

Personally I don't want some random person at my house especially inside it. Not that I am to concerned about my stuff but more concerned about my family.......Sickos are out there as we all know....... So I would meet them at some random parking lot regardless of what I was selling.

Personally I would meet them somewhere, have a brief chat and try and read them as much as possible and go by my gut instinct right then, and go from there, if it seems they seem like trouble, I would tell them the sell was off, and go on. Or if they seem trust worthy, I'd say comon over, lol. But then again I trust to many people as well.

It is actually very hard to drive a fourwheeler on a trailer when you dont have a trailer.

Its a pain in the rear to load my fourwheeler into the bed of my truck, but its doable.

I already know what I am going to do in my situation. I was just curious what you guys would do with your own homes.

I'd let somebody over to look at it no questions asked. Heck they could even try it out around the yard. Wouldn't bother me any. (as long as they didn't pin it and rip my lawn up). I don't see any reason not to have someone over. Depends where you live though, you know the people around there better than me, it's your call, whatever you feel comfortable with man.

WOuld only let them into driveway....NOT into my house and I would be packing heat...JMHO

For sure!

I wouldn't list anything on Craiglist!

Why not? Never really done any buying or selling, but I need to get rid of a few things quickly.

I thought CL stopped the adult services classifieds?

What's it like being unemployeed now?

If it is an issue to move the quad... then have them meet you where you store it ( at your friend the sheriffs house ;)) ,and have someone watch what goes on and not reveal them self to the transaction. For backup purposes. Cash should be the preferred and ONLY method of payment.

So back up would be wise.

Here in Atlanta we had a rash of craigslist robberies from black motorcycle ganstahs who made appointments to look at bikes. Two ride over and they stick a gun in the owner's face.

Nuh-uh....Craigslist has become a crime mecca.

I bought and sold a BUNCH of stuff on it and without exception, I take the item or meet to buy the item at a police station. Safe for me and safe for them.

Two reasons:

1) Someone is much less likely to take a stolen item to the police station parking lot

2) If someone is skeptical about meeting in a guaranteed safe place, they are up to no good.

I have had several people hang up on me or stop communicating when I explain the simple fact that I meet all buyers/sellers in a police parking lot. Probably saved my skin that way.

Just my 3 cents worth.

I've bought and sold quite a bit on craigslist and haven't had problem... I always at least have a phone conversation with them to get a feel for what they are like. So far, I've only dealt with good people although one guy did show up with a visible side arm... found out he teaches conceal carry classes. If you don't have a good gut feeling about someone, just don't deal with them.

I just sold a treestand on Craigslist. The guy drove an hour to meet me at the mall nearby. I had a good discussion with him beforehand. I would have had no problem with him at the house if he would have found it.

I had interest in my kayak and my deal was to meet the people on the patrolled reservoir to show it. One guy met me and son realized that kayaking wasn't for him. Two didn't want the bother. Didn't want the kayak either, I guess.

I drove an hour to meet a guy to look at my dually. He never showed!

I will never meet anyone again on CL. They can come to my house, or a place near me if they wanna look at what I have. To heck with wasting gas and time.

Yep, be prepared to be stood up, kinda inconvenient if you meet at the store or wherever away from the house. Have had several calls on trucks that the interested person never showed up.
