joeaveragehunter
When thinking about driving three hours to go hunting on the weekend, I can't help but remember since the cameras went up six weeks ago that we got six different does, one buck, five different bears and two different timberwolves on them. I would rather be hunting than doing anything else outside the bedroom, but sometimes it is just hard to get the motivation to take the first step in the 360 mile round trip. What gets you guys going?
redkneck
The hunt itself is all I need to get motivated, but I can actually walk out of my back door and walk to a stand if I don't feel like going to the club which is only 30 miles away. I'm not going to lie, it would take some super quality bucks to get me to drive 3 hours one way on the weekends to hunt time and time again. I suppose if it was the only land available at all it would be different, but the trail cam better be showing some 150" deer lol.
ruttinbuc
The problem here as I see it is the trail cam. I can't help but remember since the cameras went up six weeks ago that we got six different does, one buck, five different bears and two different timberwolves on them. By not seeing what you might have expected kicks motivation right in the pants. I see the same response everywhere. The anticipation and excitement of the unknown is seriously missing in the "big picture". Not that the hunting would be any better, but that thrill for the hunt would be. Is this technology a plus in this regard? What you see on the camera is what was there. It is not to say what has shown up since or might show up and surprise you. Guest bowhunter56
We are given only so many seasons in our life time, and one never knows which one will be the last.
Ethan Givan
I have two places to deer hunt on a regular basis right now. Sometimes I go to other places but generally two spots. One of them is right behind the house on our land. The other is is about 25 minutes drive. Although its much easier to go behind the house, I prefer driving the 25 minutes to the other farm because its a much larger piece of property that we see alot of big deer on. I guess I get motivated through the summer when I have trail cams out and I am scouting. I just love to hunt. I might not hunt as often if I had to drive 360 miles round trip, but I would still hunt as much as I could.
