ChasinTail
Earlier befor the season I laid out some corn in a few areas to see what I could get on camera. I went back to one of these areas to hunt this week and all I can smell is rotten corn in the ground from the fresh rain. Do you think this will keep deer from coming in this area (I mean it is nasty)? I know the hogs will come in looking for that smell....but thats not what Im after. huntnfish
Should not bother the deer. Deer are not touching corn much in my neck of the woods either.
TN Bucknasty
I've actually buried corn to try to attract hogs. The corn I used was so rotten, it was black. When I came back, there was a crater in the ground, and I had over 500 pictures of deer with mud all over their faces.
aldridgem1
from my past experience i dont think it bothers them too much but usually deer wont eat much corn untill it turns cool. where im from they usually like salt in such in the early season, untill the middle of oct. or so. Jeramie
As a general rule deer wont shy away from anything natural. If you have corn in your area they have smelled sour corn before. Smoke is also another thing they wont necessarly shy away from. Deer smell smoke on a pretty regular basis. It doesnt push them generally. We have even stood in the smoke of a camp fire to help mask our scent.
