Shaun_300
Despite the windy rainy weekend I still managed to take the camera with me and get some pictures. The leaves are changing here in Ontario so the scenery is a lot nicer than usual. In another few weeks it'll be even better. Gotta get a few cold snaps below freezing to get the leaves to really start changing and falling. Here's the duck setup my buddy and I have Dad and I got up to our hunt camp yesterday afternoon and stayed the night. Went for a walk before dark with the shotgun to see if I could get me a partridge, spooked one right in a bunch of hawthorn trees, never got a shot at him. On the way back to cap I climbed up the steep bank onto the old railway bed and two timberwolves were looking at me at 30 yards or so. Looked like mommy and pup, mind you the pup was the size of a german shepard. They turned and started running down the railway bed. Wish I would have the rifle! This morning after I got up we drove the logging roads since it was raining to look for deer and see if there was any birds showing themselves. No luck there either. After lunch I took another walk bound and determined to get a bird! Walked up an old railway line which is a 4 wheeler trail in the summer and snowmobile trail in the winter. Took a few pics from the trestle overlooking the Indian River. On my way back it started raining, I was looking up on the banks of the railway line for birds and one flew right in front of me, across the line to my left. I decided to climb up the banks and go after the little bugger. Didn't see him, got right before the big yard at our camp and I see him out of the corner of my eye at around 30 yards. He was staying still up on a fallen branch. Still don't know how I picked him out! I put the gun up and BOOM! flap flap flap flap flap flap flap. Just floored him. Got a load of #6's from the BPS 28ga right in the head. Almost took his head right off. I was pumped, first bird of the year! Not one pellet in the breast! You always know you made a good shot with these birds when the bird flaps like crazy after you shoot it. If he doesn't flinch, you're in for a mouthful of lead usually.:tooth:
