92xj
Yesterday I seen my first mile high flock of geese pass over. Looks like the Atlantic Flyway might be starting a little. Pacfic Flyway - is starting as well. Have seen mlultiple groups of geese flying in from the North. Also, ducks are starting to make there way here. Looking forward to my morning drive to work here in 15 minutes be the river to see how many have shown up since Friday. Had a decent cold front last week that pushed them down. This week is suppose to be HOT again, but the following is suppose to drop 20 degrees in High changes, so hopefully that brings more. Mississippi Flyway- any sightings yet from anyone? 92xj
Not sure when they got here, but tonight after dinner by the river, we were sitting in the truck bed and saw the 'black cloud' get up off the water. There were 10's or thousands of ducks everywhere. They were going to the roost for the night, which happened to be right in front of me. Saw the classic thousand duck Tornado. If you guys have not seen a duck tornado, you aren't living. Its simply amazing. This makes me insanely excited for the 16th. It cant get here quick enough!!! 92xj
Went out scouting my hole last night. There were the 1000 or so mallards milling around where my decoy normally sit, but also right at the bank of the river there were around 65-85 Pintails. Man ol' man, I cant wait for day next weekend. RTF
Looks like the geese population from Canada is filtering through. Thousands upon thousands of geese flooded our area this past weekend. Our regular goose season opened this past Saturday and from what I heard it was a huge success for those who hunted them. 92xj
It's still not hot and heavy here, There are the few birds trickling in from the North, but nothing huge yet. We have some pretty high winds, rain and cold temps going on right now and should last through tomorrow. Hopefully it will bring some birds in. I can not wait for Canada to start freezing! 92xj
The geese are here, well the first part of the migration. This morning duck hunting, I had to have had 8-12 thousand come in and land 500 yards out on the safety island. Bring it on Canadas!
Brantley
November 1 migration update Migration updates from the Central, Pacific and northern Mississippi flyways. What have you guys been seeing recently? Lots of "soft ducks" where I am in Kentucky--but we have nearly a month to go until opening day. http://www.realtree.com/hunting/articles-and-how-to/november-1-flyway-report
92xj
Been seeing and shooting a lot of Green Wings, Widgeon and Resident Mallards but I did kill a HUGE Northern Mallard yesterday. So, the ducks are starting to filter in. Had tons of Pintails the last two weeks, didnt see them much at all this weekend. Must be heading to California. No red heads, ring necks or bluw bills here. Those dont get hot and heavy till January. Pacific flyway will get hot and heavy real soon. The Canadas are coming in my the thousands right now. Just need the ducks to follow them.
