Turkey Loads?

I have learned turkey loads are a complicated thing, from the gun you use, the choke you use, the size shot you select.

I use a rem. 870, 26" barrel with a indian creek .665 choke, i get the pattern with Hevi-shot #6 3".

But i know a lot of guys like 7 shot, best thing to do is pattern your guy, the down side it can get expensive buying various shells or chokes...

Hey Gary, what gun\choke combo do you have?

I shoot a 3" Rem 870 with a 21" barrel and i use a Preston Pittman choke.

It shoots Fed. Flight control #5's very good. Also shoots Win HiVel #5's very good.

It all depends on the gun and choke, different guns shoot different loads better, just have to buy a few different boxes and try them out.

Hope this helps

My whole family shoots Winchester Supreme # 5s. We have shot Federal control wad, Remington Nitros and the Winshesters pattern the best out of our guns, both 12 ga and 20 ga.

I shoot a Rem 870 and so does my little brother. I also have a Winchester 1300 20 ga., my mom shoots a womens model 1300 20 ga. and my other brother shoots a 1300 12 ga. They all like the winchesters the best. We have taken several birds with these loads.

Believe me this will save you a bunch of time and money.

Call Gobblerguns Tech and Inquiry at 1-870-251-9955

Tell them what gun you have. Make, model and barrel length. They will have the best suggestions for what loads and which of their chokes will work best for your gun. They don't just make chokes they custom modify guns and confirm the patterns. They have a very good database on what works best with most guns.

If you just want a choke that's fine. They'll give you their best suggestions. If the choke doesn't perform well enough they will exchange it for free for a different choke until you are satisfied with their choke. I've got two of their chokes for two different guns and was immediately satisfied with their performance. I've cleanly killed five gobblers with their choke.

Gobblerguns will save you the expense of testing different loads and chokes.

Here's a video of me using their choke. I was shooting a Browning Gold with 3 1/2" Win Extended Range #5s

Well, I finally went to the range today and took two 3” loads with me. Remember my set up: 870 21” Remchoke X-Full choke. Ammo was Win Supreme HV Turkey Loads, 1.75 oz. 5 shot ($16.49). AND Rem Nitro Turkey 1 7/8oz. 5 shot ($6.99). Results at 40 yards? Winchester scored 30 hits inside that 10” circle with 5 hits in the brain/cervical area. Remington scored 60 hits in that 10” circle with 9 brain/cervical area hits. All in all kind of disappointing. Maybe I should move on to Hevi 13 and JellyHead chokes. What say you?
