Slash
How do you determine the draw length of a recurve bow? I'm looking at one and I need to make sure that 30" draw length I have with my compound will work with a recurve bow.
Adjam5
I am pretty sure that the trad draw is one inch below your draw of the compound bow. So a 30" draw recurve should fit someone with a 31" compound draw. I shoot a 29" draw Matthews and 28" recurves. Locate JimPic on this board. He will be better able to direct you. JimPic
Most bows are rated at 28" draw. If you're drawing 30" on your compound, like Adjam said, you'll most likely lose at least an inch on a recurve...possibly a little more with a longbow. If a bow is rated at 28" and you draw 29" or more, you'll pick up about 2-3# per inch on the draw weight. So keep that in mind when buying your bow. Also, with a longer draw, you'll want to avoid shorter bows...like under 60". Finger pinch could become an issue and a longer bow is just alot smoother and forgiving to shoot
Slash
Thank you gentlemen, I purchased a CLIPPER 59" RECURVE BOW AMO 35# 39B 3081 from ebay last night and didn't have to pay a lot for it. I'm hoping it will work, if not oh well. Just got interested in the traditional stuff, would be cool to arrow a deer with it.
