Bee hive question

I found this while hunting yesterday. It was a bee hive that was underground and something had dug it up to get the honey,there was honey comb all over the ground and bees were still flying in it. What kind of critters would dig up a hive to get the honey?

Probably a coon or skunk. Any animal that likes something sweet.

Bears would be my first thought in KY. Any badgers up there?

Badger is a good bet too.. Those critters are mean and I doubt they would shy away from bees.

I think it could be a number of animals. I'd guess coon or skunk.

If you really want to know, wet the ground around it, smooth out the mud and come back and look for tracks.

As far as I know there are no badgers in ky. We have bears here and they have been spotted several times in the county I hunt in,have never seen one or any sign on the farm though. After all your suggestion I am leaning toward s a skunk or coon,I didn't know they would dig for honey,I learned something today.

I wouldnt mind seeing a bear but not on my hunting land.
