abear491
It seems to early to already be having rubs, but I have found some. I found some at two different places. I haven't found any scrapes but it seems really early and on one rub you can definetly see he was hard horned not just getting his velvet off.. Just wondering if anybody else has seen anything

Jorden
I found a few. Bucks will make rubs from the day they lose their velvet just not a bunch. Mostly mainly along their preffered travel routes and near feeding areas.

cray8705
I've got two scrapes under the same cedar tree about 4 feet away from each other near one of my stands, watched a doe two days ago work the scrape and get up on her hind legs to reach the branches, it was pretty cool. toddyboman
Deer will actually scrape ALL YEAR..... As soon as the velvet comes off they will continue to rub to strengthen their muscles....

Milwaukee
One side of our farm has very little buck sign but the edge of one of our corn fields is peppered with rubs and several scrapes. We started seeing rubs 2-3 weeks earlier this year than the previous 10. One stand has over 20 rubs and I'm guessing there must be some competition. I hope they try proving something when I'm on stand
TN Bucknasty
Deer will actually scrape ALL YEAR..... As soon as the velvet comes off they will continue to rub to strengthen their muscles.... Sure will. Also, just because a scrape gets covered in leaves, that doesn't mean it is inactive. You can also start scrapes by raking back the leaves and peeing on the ground. I've had deer take over many of my scrapes. I'm finding rubs around here. The older deer start rubbing and scraping first because they normally lose velvet earlier and they have higher testosterone levels, but as soon as the others lose velvet, they start, too. The buck I killed last weekend had tree shavings all over his bases, but he lost his velvet back in August and some of the others are just now losing it. dbHunterNY
bucks around here have shed velvet. i just hung a lone wolf hang-on along a ridge. within a 50 yard radius of the stand there's about 13-15 rubs. next time I visit it I'll make a mock scrape with Hot Scrape. Stinger-Hunter
They should def be out of velvet here already. If not in the next week. I've never seen a deer in velvet past October 1st this far north, but I guess it is possible.
