Deer archery starts Oct. 16. Been out squirrel hunting couple times, got 2. Having a real job takes away hunting time, not too mention this cruddy fall weather so far.

Stuck inside doing this computer stuff for the hospital the next couple days but by end of the week is suppose to be nice, it needs to be because I need to shoot my bow!

I have my trail camera out and have pictures of a few deer, but no nice bucks yet. :(

However, our waterfowl season opens on Friday and we are SO ready for it! Our chocolate lab, April is 14 months old and is one lean, mean, duck hunting machine! :flex: This will be her first year going in the blind with us and we can't wait!

Good luck this season, ladies! Here's to bagging big bucks, lots of birds or any other game you are going after! :wine:

Success

I took a 4 pointer with the bow on opening day, Sept 18th. Also missed a doe a couple Saturdays later. Shot high.

Last Saturday, I filled my turkey tag with a nice tom. With that shotgun that is. Just can't draw on them jokers.

Tomorrow begins our early doe season. Taking the gun out for deer for the 1st time this season. Been seeing lots of does. Hoping for more meat in the freezer.

I don't have the time to keep up with this forum like I used to. Hope to get some pics up though.

Best of luck to all!

Got a Pronghorn Antelope Doe in Wyoming...

Earlier this month... I had a lot of fun! Wish I had a buck tag, though.. maybe I'll do it another year (don't know when).

Here's my story with photos to follow:

Friday, Oct. 1, 2010: We headed out that afternoon, so I could get my pronghorn doe. After we got out there, My husband, Mike and I walked, and then crawled when we got closer to the place to scout and wait for a doe. We saw many but they were too far away and then started running away. Since we were told they travel in a big circle we waited to see if they’d come back and closer for me to shoot. But it was getting colder with the wind picking up so we headed back to the truck. I’d try again the next morning.

Saturday, October 02, 2010: I got up early this time to go get a pronghorn doe. But when we got to the same spot as the day before, it was cloudy and foggy in some parts. We couldn’t see anything until after the fog cleared. When we did, we saw 6 bucks and 30 to 40 doe but they were too far for me to shoot, so again we headed back to the truck. I wasn’t disappointed, because I knew it just wasn’t the right time to get a doe.

After I had a good nap, we drove back to a pasture that we had previously seen a buck and doe bedded down. They were still there so we decided to put a stalk on the doe. Mike and I got out of the truck. As I was trying to get ready to shoot, I saw the buck and doe run off. We had spooked them. Then before we got to the truck, Mike wanted to show me the best way to get the shot, that’s right, lying on my belly, which I did... then noticed at that same time the doe and buck stopped and started grazing again. Then getting the doe in the scope (Mike kept stressing “the one on the left”), I shot from about 250 yards and the doe went down. Like my first animal, I asked, “Did I get ‘er”? Mike confirmed that she went down first thing. Then we walked to it (at first the buck didn’t leave, then left as we got closer) and I saw her! What an elation!!! My first pronghorn antelope!
