dbHunterNY
it's raining a lot lately, but it was nice this weekend. thus, I took a couple guns to the range i now have next door. i took the .223 savage model 12 and my browning stainless/walnut a-bolt 30-06. it's the first time i've been there. here's some pictures.... club has a nice setup; targets out to 300 yards. my savage model 12 .223 with some of the stuff i right there on the bench. the rest of the stuff was on the back bench behind me. the first quick five shot string @ 200 yards. there was a steady head wind from the north for the first two shots on the 3" shoot'n c sticker. then the wind started to shift to a cross wind from the west. i just held to see how it'd effect things. using a wind checker bottle after i'm guessing it was around 10mph and blew the 60gr vmax bullets about 4" left. the rifle seemed to hold 1/2 MOA throughout the morning after paying attention to the wind. ...didn't take pictures of the a-bolt. last shots fired from both guns rung the steel gong at 300 yards. i figured it was a good time to end the morning. that gong is addicting! doubleA
Nothing like a relaxing day at the range. Any time you get out to shoot is a good day. The trees are changing colors I see by the picture, it hasnt happened here yet. Yeah shooting steel is nice as you can hear and see instant results. I have them out to 700 yds at my place. dbHunterNY
yea if I want to get any longer than 300 yards I've got to go to my parent's farm. I've thought about asking around at local machine shops to get a steel target made up or at least a cut 500 brinell plate and then I'll do the rest myself. Yea there's still a little more fall foliage change to go, but the change is definitely happening here. I thought the results were interesting for me. Just really learning how to shoot in the wind. Shaun_300
Nice shooting! Yeah it doesn't take much to get those bullets drifting in the wind. Espically .22 calibers. Cool looking setup!
