sureshot
coyotes are one of the hardest to trap, read as many books and do online searches for trapping. you will need to boil and wax the traps, really watch scent controal wear rubber gloves and rubber tall boots, hide the traps perfect, I always like trail sets but used hole sets once in a while. use really stinky bait.good luck. shockwave
Yotes as well as other critters tend to take the easiest route from one place to another.. Trap around fence rows, tractor trails roads etc. edges of fields.. Any place where a farmer stores his hay if its in a field, mice and other rat like crittters like to feed and hide in such places.. Set traps in bottle neck areas, roads between fields is another good spot.. Be extra clean. Boil your traps, you can wax them if you like, i personally dont wax its just an extra step thats optional. Cotote urine, a good brand coyote lure and bait is a plus. cavens just mice for bait cavens terminator lure M.J. canine candy bait/lure Hope this helps you a little.. Texan_Til_I_Die
Haven't ran a trap line in 30+ years, but I used to make a lot of money doing it "back in the day." The best luck I had on yotes was with a snare set on a fence line. But you have to be really careful with those - they're indiscriminate killers.
