Bowtech_archer07
Well about an hour ago I hit a 130" class 8 ptr. He is my best buck ever with a bow. He was slightly quartering away and I hit him behind the shoulder. The arrow lodged in the opposite shoulder and broke off. The buck ran away and jumped a fence. Didn't follow blood trail more than 15 yards. I think it's a really good hit. I'm waiting till 8 to take a friend back out w/ me to find him. Hope to have good news in a couple hours!!! Rem308
Hope you're dragging him now...hit sounds good. I have had a few deer that shot and the arrow lodged in the opposite shoulder and broke off, it seemed to help keep the wound open and blood pour out rather than seal back up by fat. Bowtech_archer07
Didn't find him. I'm so down in the dumps right now. Only found 3 drops of blood about 100 yards into the trail. No idea direction of travel from there. I'm so dang upset right now, i'm almost physically sick. I'm going back out tomorrow to try to at least find a body. The meat will probably spoil overnight since it's supposed to be so warm here, but it's hard to do a body search in the dark with absolutely no idea of where he might be. I am absolutely sick right now guys...

Straight Shooter
I wish you the best of luck in finding him. I know it sucks and its the worse feeling on any deer not recovered. It sounds like you've made a good shot on him, if you have any water in the area. I'd head towards that, most deer hit will definately go to water. Keep us updated and I hope to hear some good news, buddy.
gowest
We have all been there - hang in there and try to keep a positive attitude. The advice about heading towards water is a good one. Fromt he discription, without a pass through, the body cavity has filled up with blood . He's down, just think your way through and don't let negative vibes enter your thought process. Bowtech_archer07
Well, after 6 hours of searching.. 3 in the dark and 3 in the daylight all we found was 3 drops of blood. Went back out this morning and walked the timber in a grid search and didn't find anything. Then I rode the 4 wheeler through a cow pasture looking for him. I'm thinking what might have happened was his right shoulder (the one facing me) was forward so maybe the vitals had shifted back and I nicked one lung and he healed up and is still alive. I'm just sick right now. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Hopefully I'll get a chance to redeem myself soon.
