Jeramie
Because of recent health issues I’ve decided to get back into shape. I use to run 3-4 miles daily and lift heavy several times a week. I was in really, really good shape until about 28 - 29. We had our first child and I never lifted another finger. Fast forward to 34, recent health issues, and its time to do something. My boss had mentioned running during lunch. Its been years but I love to run so I said, "Lets go." I set the date for today. We are going to run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are showers on the 6th floor so we can clean up before heading back to work. Sounds like a great idea, right?! Wrong.... I'm 5'-8" and haven’t worked out in years. My boss is 6'-2'ish and a captain in the Airforce. My suggestion to everyone is.....if you decide to get back into shape dont start out kicking pavement (approximately 2 1/2 miles of pavement) with a captain in the Airforce that is easily 4" - 6" taller than you. I think I left my lung back on Riverside Drive.
arrow32
LOL! Hope you find your lung again. I'll also remember never to run with a captain in the Airforce.
MUDRUNNER
LOL. It's amazing how fast you can get out of shape. I was pretty active and athletic till I was about 23 or so.(About the time I got married actually) One day I bet a buddy from work I could around the track city park in like 10 minutes. I know I could have when I was 20, but needless to say I lost the bet I bought the beer that night. Kudos for getting back into it! I started lifting and eating better when I turned 30, and now 4 years later I'm still at it and feel great. I hate running and my shins kill me, so my cardio consists of supersets, jump rope, and chasing the kids around. If you start lifting again ease into it. I know for me at 34 my body takes a little longer to get healed up than it did 10 years ago. I remember the first time I did squats when I started lifting again and not being able to walk right for 3 days.

Im buying some stuff for the house (hand weights, a cable machine, etc) but there is also an All Amercian Fitness pretty much across the street. Im thinking about joining and hitting it on my days we arent running. The thing that is going to kill me is I keep judging myself by what I use to do! wtnhunt
Good luck with it Jeramie. Gotta agree with mudrunner on how quick you can get out of shape, sure doesn't get any easier the older you get.
Shaun_300
Keep with it Jeramie! I get enough of a work out at work everyday so I really don't bother with anything else. I used to do the Total Gym and lift some weights here at home, but haven't been into that in a while.

ruttinbuc
It is not easy trying to whip into shape...take it slowwwww heck, i've never been IN shape for anything. maybe because i hate exercising, running, lifting weights, etc. lol I don't know about that. I think you might be part antelope the way you traverse those buttes, coolies, and canyons. You are in shape by being as active as you are I believe

Don't think I am in bad shape aside from the back problems which did not bother me so much in Wyoming, but following Steve up some of those rock slides and hills was a bit of a challenge. I'd really like to start running down there, but it's kind of hard to justify the drive from BA... unless I'm chasing stripers below the pedestrian bridge. I might have to adjust my priorities a bit...:shifty:
Jeramie
I didnt know stripers run up the river?! I work on 71st and Lewis so im not that far from there!
ckrich
You bet they do. I think its from March to May that they spawn along Riverside, all the way to Keystone dam. It was my first year to give em a go down there, and from what I hear it was a tough year all around for them. Here are a couple that we did manage to land. Jeramie
That last one is a nice striper! They run about the same time as the sandbass. I may have to get over there this spring.
