Orion_70
Has anyone used an ATV Disc for discing up small foodplots? I currently can pick up a small Brinley Disc and a Flip over style Disc ( looks like from agri supply http://www.agrisupply.com/product.asp?pn=41342&sid=&eid=) for a couple hundred bucks for both. I'm just wondering if they will work well. I don't have access to a tractor here but do have my atv. I'll drop a hundred or so pounds on top of the disc to get it to cut down good hopefully. Just don't know if they're worth investing in.

Never used one......but for that price not sure you can beat it. Have heard of lots of guys using atv pull type disc and as long as they get the proper amount of weight on the disc and the ground isn't hard they work well..... LETMGROW
Most of the atv discs work very well. You have to keep in mind they are not going to do the job a large set of tractor pulled discs are going to do. No need for apoligies here. Not everybody has a tractor or has use for one. Your atv is light years ahead of the old rake and shovel. Some might suggest adding weight to atv discs and under some circumstances that is probably ok. Whether you do, will depend on the size atv you have, as well as if it is 2 or 4 wd. Adding too much weight to the discs could ruin a belt or clutch pack in no time at all. You are going to spend some time in the field working it up. At first you will be disapointed and think the discs don't work. As you continue, you will see the ground loosening and looking like you want it to. Best of luck, Lynn
