ruttinbuc
with the camera and then let him walk by at 30 yards. There are some better bucks on the property. I just hope I'm not kicking myself later. Saw a lot of deer in the last couple of days. I saw one buck that was two fields away that was a no doubter without binoculars
wtnhunt
Looks like a pretty solid buck there Mike. Would have a tough time passing one like that with a bow.
ruttinbuc
I hear you William. That's the trouble with seeing bigger bucks before one like this guy shows up. I came real close to letting one ride. I snorted like a pig to stop him and you could see the fear factor in him. Maybe I'm just going soft and looking to better the ones on my wall. If he shows up again I'll think about it.:hammer1: Edited October 13, 2010 by ruttinbuc

buckee
Great mature buck. Genetically speaking though, inferior. Hang in there Mike. I love your patience man. That's what it takes if you want the big boys.

Yes, he is a nice buck Luke, but with any luck I'll catch up to his uncle. Who wants to stop hunting this early in the season anyways, right! His left side looks shorter.....is shorter or broken... Nice pic btw Thanks Todd! Yes, shooting him would have stopped me from setting another stand today.:1eye: good job there Mike, hes a little shorter on one side than the other. pretty cool you got pics of him. bide your time and the big one will show up. Tony Thanks Tony! No, it's not Iowa but there are some good bucks on this property. I only have a couple of weeks to get it done there though. If you know whats in your area I say good choice being that he is a little weak on the one side. It'll come just a little more time. I agree Cody Youre a rock... I would have smoked him. I almost turned to sand for just a second... Plenty of time left in the season. Good luck to all the dog Trouble is the end gets there sooner than you think!:pop: He looks like he's ready for a fight! Good mature deer Mike, but I probably would have passed him too. He was actually hitting a licking branch when I first saw him. He was doing something on his hocks, too! I gave him a burrr...rup and he came looking on a good trot. The pig snort put the brakes on and he was looking all over the place with a tight tail and questions in his eyes. I almost touched it.. Great mature buck. Genetically speaking though, inferior. Hang in there Mike. I love your patience man. That's what it takes if you want the big boys. I have never considered myself a trophy hunter, but big bucks are where you find them. I found some just a bit better and what have I got to lose? I don't need to prove anything and the hunt is what it is. This is that county piece I told you about and the hard part is that I probably won't draw there again. I was lucky as a non-resident to get to hunt the first season. Might as well make the best of it. Win or lose. i would have had a hard time passin him up. but he will a beauty next season He will be bigger for sure, but I don't think that rack will straighten out any. I guess you never know.
