Going at it

LOL!

Its a 99 Cherokee Sport. Had it tore apart once and replaced the seals and busted one putting them back in so fixed that and its still leaking. So gotta take it back a part. Buddy of mine that works at a garage wants to go ahead and check the shafts and what not while I have it apart to make sure there ain't nothin else wrong that might cause them to leak.

Oh and the seals in the front axle. I'm telling you though I've had more problems with having to cut off bolts and crap than anything with this thing.lol My cousin told me anytime I go to work on it I'll spend more time cutting off bolts than anything and he is right.LOL

Next job is to put a new exshuast on it and air in take. Any suggestions? I've already got an idea on the intake but am open to any good ideas.

Sounds like you have it under control. Just an FYI, you can pull the entire hub assembly and shaft out as one piece by taking the 3 12 point bolts inside the knuckle. Keep your steering wheel unlocked when doing this. It will save you a lot of time. Anyhow, let me know if you run into anything.

Intake and exhuast - its all over rated. If you're going for power, dont waste your money.

exhaust - If you're going for sound, I would run a straight pipe to a cherry bomb. I had my buggy like this and it sounded good, but then again, it sounded completely different than my buddies 4.0 that had the exact same thing. His was horrible. I also had mine dump out about where your rear wiper is attach to your gate. Remember this was on a buggy. I have no unibody, body, glass or sheet metal, all tubing. Just trying to give you an idea of the location if I still had the body on their.

Intake - If you are wanting the sound, do it, if its power, dont waste your money. I did a bored out throttlebody with a trottlebody rotation cut on the inside with a K&N intake. If you do this, you will have to pull out the heat pad on the inside of the hood. Once this is out it will still hit the hood but it works. The sound you get it really pretty cool, but you will not notice any power nor MPG increase. I drove the piss out of my XJ from day one, so my MPG was not to good anyways.

The only real way you will see any power increase out of the 4.0 is to do a stroker. Once down, its a pretty slick motor with plenty of power.

Ok thanks man. I did run into a problem having to buy a new shaft. Did have another one my cousin had but we decided against it I'm going to get a new one tomorrow.

Hoping to have it all up and running tomorrow. BTW I did take the bolts out of the hub.

Could you show me what your talking about with something on the net with the intake?

I'm new to the whole jeep thing and modify in general I'm learning as I go and from what I read. Plus I have a cousin that is ate up with it.

There is a serious groove in the shaft and from my buddy who works at a garage and my cousin they both say thats whats causing it to leak. Thats why I'm putting the new shaft in it.

If this don't fix it I'm putting a new front end in it that my cousin has.

can you post pictures?

The shaft comes with a taper from the factory by the splines where it would go from the axle tubes to the diff. Having a groove in the shaft from anything else is near impossible, that makes no sense. I have torn apart well over 1500 front axles and have never seen any get a groove that wasn't already there from the factory. Something isn't right here. I am just trying to save you money.

Also, where is this leak coming from? Is it dripping out of the inner C of the axle tube? pinion seal? diff cover? Passenger side?
