Realtree Health Contest

My cardio is getting better. Started running 1.1 miles around the circle here in the neighborhood. Started Wednesday and I made the lap in 12:43 seconds. Thursday, 11:40 seconds. Today, 10:40 seconds. Right now, I'm extremely happy with a 10 minute mile!

Finished out of the Top 12 for the first time. Only one more weigh-in to go(Monday). Need to lose 5 lbs break the 60 lb lost mark.

Not sure on the standings, but I think I'm in the lead as of right now. Just hope to have a good weigh-in Monday.

According to my records, I'm currently in the lead by about 2%. One final weigh-in and I'm waiting until tomorrow morning for mine.

Hope to put up decent numbers. It's been a good week for me so I'm not that worried. Sure would be nice to bring home the check!!

197.6

Didn't quite reach my goal of 60 lbs...BUT they also cut the contest short a week. So actually, I was on pace to break it.

Anyway, 58.8 lbs lost in 11 weeks is awesome. I'm proud of my accomplishment. So proud, that I'm going to Braum's at lunch and celebrating!!!LOL

Well.....I won the contest!! Lost 22.8% of my body weight in 11 weeks!

I ended up winning $936 in cash and a prize basket worth approx. $500. Not sure what's in the basket but I suspect its gift certificates for local businesses.

What's cool, is that we started out with 125 contestants and I won first and my wife finished 9th!

Breakfast: Two cups of coffee and a Quaker Oats Oatmeal Raisen 90 calorie bar or 3 boiled eggs whites.

Lunch: Lien Cusine or Healthy Choice microwave meal(favorites: LC Chicken Fettucini or Pasta Romano w/Bacon and HC Chicken Romano Fresca)

Supper: Baked Tilapia or baked chicken with vegetables.

My secret weapon was my cardio. I went from absolutely no regular physical exercise to jogging 4 miles a week in a little less than a month.

I splurged only once per week. When the family went out to eat, I made sure I chose from only the healthy choices on the menu. I didn't eat deserts at all. Cut out all pops except for diet(one a day).

My game plan now is to continue eating healthy for breakfast and lunch and then splurge a little bit on dinners every now and then. Last night for instance, I ate a McDonald's double cheeseburger(the small one) with fries.

I'm still drinking diet drinks. Still running. I just don't want to get back in the routine of not exercising and ordering the biggest meal on the menu. Before this diet, I rarely ordered a burger that wasn't a double. Rarely sat down and ate less than 4 pieces of pizza. Rarely drank less than 3 pops a day. And rarely failed to stop at the store for a candy bar and a pop daily.

On my diet, I was steadily losing 4 lbs a week. I was eating 1,000 to 1,200 calories a day. According to myfitnesspal.com, I can eat 1,700 calories and still maintain my weight. Although, I don't plan to jump 500 calories a day right off the bat, I plan on slowly finding a medium that will let me maintain my weight at my current physical activity level.

Thanks Kev.

My wife and I are going to try and get the fam on a better diet. My youngest son is overweight, I'm overweight, and my wife should do a lot better job of managing her diabetes. My wife buys way too much junk food, both sugary stuff and things like chips. It's a non-sustainable path that I hope we can turn around soon.

I was 258 this morning.
