92xj
I suggested going to get the landlords dog. Any dog will sniff around and hopefully smell something the boys cant see. Hopefully it all comes together. Tim said on the phone last night that the shot was back, but still looked good. We shall see.
92xj
Well, I just got off the phone with Tim. They put in a good 4+ hours of searching and cant find the deer. Tim is pretty tore up about it. They could not find the deer nefore having to leave the field and head back to the camp to pack to be at the airport in 30 minutes. They guys that Tim was hunting with are continuing to look for the deer and will hopefully come across it soon. Guys, Tims down in the dumps, send some love to him! We all have this happen and know its hard. He will be getting on the plane in an hour and heading home. Does not arrive till 1:30am so he will check in tomorrow sometime. buckee
Oh, God knows I know how he feels. I still kick myself for a few lost deer in my past. The memories never go away, and they always haunt you. I know it happens to everyone at one time or another, but it's still hard to swallow and even more so for a guy like Tim, who got it all on film, with no deer to show for it. That makes it even tougher on him. Keep your chin up Tim. Too bad they can't get some good tracking dogs in there.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Tim, if you need a trained tracking dog, I have some names and phone numbers for people in the area. These dogs are good, near 100% success rate if the deer is in fact dead. Shoot me a PM if you want the contact info.
92xj
Dang, that would be awesome. Wish he was still down there to take you up on that offer. I have not heard word if the guys that continued to look found anything once Tim got on the plane to fly home. He won't be on here til the morning, but I will shoot him a text in hopes of him getting it on his lay over. Maybe they could get a dog sent out even if Tim is not there. Hey, got a hold of Tim, he asked me to tell you "Thank you!" but the rancher there is already in the process of getting a local dog out there. Tim has just landed in Dallas and now dealing with the lay-over to get home.
Turkeygirl
Aaaw...from highs to lows in a matter of hours. I hope they can find that deer! I'm wondering if that tornado is what I just watched on the news....big tornadoes wiped out some places in Texas!
dbHunterNY
Even for a prostaffer things still happen. They're only human, just like us. I know a couple others that have lost deer this season. It's unfortunate, but it happens. Maybe they'll still find it to give Tim some closure. Hits on deer can sometimes have weird out comes. I blew a deer's heart wide open with a ML and another with a rifle having them not bleed to leave a trail. Don't ask me how they didn't. I had to do a grid search as well. I recovered both deer, but I wasn't on a time crunch like Tim either. Perfection is a hard thing to ask for, regardless of the individual and their abilities. If you put in the time and effort a long with lots of practice to make that shot count, it's all one can ask of a person. Hang in there Tim. Adjam5
I know that feeling also, all too well . When you hunt, these things happen...even to the best. Hang in there Tim.

Buzzards have already migrated south from my hunting area. I saw a deer carcass on the side of the road last weekend and all that was eating on it was ravens.
