ruttinbuc
Yesterday I was running a little late and was in a bit of a hurry to get in the tree when I got to it. I heard deer running in the corn in the morning and the wind was right for the spot in the PM. This lane is loaded with deer tracks and droppings. After getting my pegs in the holes and the bow attached to the strap I started to climb. I looked over my shoulder and saw a deer coming down the lane. I froze and watched as he took his time stopping and looking around. I think he sensed something but he didn't know it was me just yards away hanging on a tree. He finally moved along, passing within feet. As he got by I managed to get the camera out of the bag on my shoulder. After posing for a couple of pictures he happily trotted off. This was one of those times that make bowhunting what it is. I saw a couple other small bucks from a distance from my perch in the fence row.... My ladder stand is directly across the field

ruttinbuc
Thanks guys! Yes this is one of those properties that I wish I owned or could hunt forever. It has a little bit of everything except for a straight tree to use my climber lol. I'm only allowed to hang two stands. I have had some close encounters hunting some ground spots. I have two no doubt bucks, one of which I messed up on this morning by not noticing a doe along the edge of the cover I was in. My attention was on the big 8 point that was coming in my direction at first light. I was on the ground. This afternoon had a deer in the distance, but nothing close. Very windy and the big moon made for a long afternoon. Oh, well we try again tomorrow. I only have 8 more days to hunt it.

ruttinbuc
I sat that stand this morning and watched up the hill where I was busted yesterday. The doe who spooked on the alarm interdigital of a fork horn was standing stock still what seemed like forever over there. Her fawns were looking like they were getting very antsy. She cautiously moved along taking her sweet time. Just goes to show they do have a memory or associate danger to certain areas once spooked. There was no sign of the big 8 or the forkey for that matter. Very breezy this morning again. I should have taken this guy out. Looks like he has a bad case of fleas. 43 yards, but sending $30+ downrange didn't seem worth it. ruttinbuc
Great pics Mike! Wish more people(me included) would take a camera along with them and post pics for everyone that's cooped up at work. Thanks Kevin, It can get you in trouble at times. I would like to take it out more. I fear getting caught so it stays in the bag most of the time. This morning I wish I'd had it out when a string of seven Canada's came flying right to me at treetop level with a brilliant blue sky and the yellow cornfield as a backdrop. I could see there eyes glinting from the sun. One of those moments you wish you could capture. I guess you would have to use your imagination. I'll listen for them in the distance the next time and grab the camera just in case.

ruttinbuc
Nice pictures. Which Hunterdon County property are you hunting? Thanks! I'd really like to tell you, but I'd like to try and get back there next year. With all the competition in this state for even fair hunting ground and all. I hope you can understand that.
