TN Bucknasty
What do ya'll think of Mountain Mike's Euro kits? I've been using the Pinchback reproduction and the McKenzie skulls for a long time for customers who want to save a little cash instead of having me boil and clean the head. The only thing that I don't like about those two is that neither company makes a slotted skull with teeth. They are flat on the bottom. I decided to order a kit from Mountain Mike through Cabela's, and I was both impressed and disappointed. The skull design and installation process were both really well thought out. The problem was that the skull was absolutely huge. The thing looks more like a calf skull than a deer skull. It should be great for mule deer, but the thing was far to monstrous for a Southern Whitetail. It dwarfed both a 140 inch set of antlers and all of the real skulls I have hanging in the shop. It was the exact same size as a skull I have from a 7 foot black bear. If they ever come out with a smaller series, I'll probably do quite a bit of business with them especially if I can buy bulk. dbHunterNY
Yea I posted my mount on here I did a while back using the Record Keeper Euro kit from Mountain Mike's. The skull was a bit wide it still turned out pretty good and the directions were good too. I understand why the skulls run bigger. I could make bigger kind of work, but if the skull was smaller than I'd have to return it or throw it away. A smaller series would be a good idea, maybe like 3/4" less wide. Here's the thread with pictures that I posted... http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95493&highlight=Bone+Collector+Euro
