Strut10
Saturday morning as me & Lil were sitting in a tree not seeing deer, we were slap covered up with turkeys. Booted about 4 off the limb climbing to the ridgetop going into the stand. A flock flew down, cackling, into the valley to our left and worked in from that side, clucking and purring as the scratched. A good sized gang of birds in front and to our right broke into a brawl. There were fighting purrs, kee-kee's and choppy jake gobbles for 5-10 minutes staright. Don't know what they were fighting over. But they were serious about it. Had a bird with a full-roll gobble going off every so often straight behind us and down over the hill. And another bird was giving full gobbles a couple hundred yards off our left shoulder. Not too much of the vocabulary we didn't get to hear over the course of a couple hours.
PA_RIDGE_RUNNER
And there are those that say gobblers only sound off in the spring.

Strut10
And there are those that say gobblers only sound off in the spring. I've heard turkeys gobble every month of the year in PA except, I believe, for January.
Ethan Givan
And there are those that say gobblers only sound off in the spring. Last year I set in a deer stand one morning in the middle of November and listened to a group of birds gobble several times from the roost. They flew down, and came up onto the ridge I was on not 20 yards from me. There was 7 gobblers in that group and 2 of them went into full strut a couple times. They do that stuff year round. wtnhunt
Watched a group of 7 toms chase 3 hens around here just this morning, hens came along after the toms were there. Got some decent pics of some birds strutting here a week or so ago.
wtnhunt
Birds been pretty vocal here the past little bit too Don. Couple of the pics I was talking about, they were taken October 19th, so almost 2 weeks ago. At least one decent bird coming around in this group, our fall turkey opens in December. Had this group walk within 30 yards of me during our archery season, too bad no landowner quota hunt this year.
