Got some much needed rain here too, would have been nice if it would have come down over days rather than hours, but we will take it. Winds are finally dieing down here, hoping to get out this afternoon. Gotta agree with the older and wiser. Go after the storms pass through, this cold front moving in behind the bad weather should get them moving around.

That's what I'm banking on William. The storms are starting to come through here now. Heading out tomorrow & should be in a stand tomorrow afternoon. Supposed to get down into the mid 30's here by Friday. I'll hunt through Sunday morning. Can't wait for the cool air!

Sounds like a good plan to me. I don't think I've shot a bow in 50+ mph winds.

You kinda have to lead your target and release as the tree sways by. :D

I'm not worried about the tree I'm in coming down. What worries me is the crap that fallsout of the tree I'm in from above. About got brained a few years back by a hefty chunk of limb. Not too interested anymore. Besides that, I'm not really sure how a fellow would hit anything whilst swaying and pitching to and fro up there.

I do remember a few times........................riding trees in windstorms...............shoulda been that you won if you could hold on for 8 seconds. :D :D :D

LMBO. Been there done that more than a time or two. Seems someone posted a few years back about riding out the winds and I referred to that feeling as being similar to the carnival puke rides.

Maybe Randy will chime in here about his favorite pine tree.:D:D:D

Still think JB still had the best story on riding trees.

They are though here already. Winds around 30-35 with gust to 55. The neighbors tree is getting cut down as I write this. It fell on the power line, luckily I still have power. Wind advisorys here though tomorrow night at 7. Thursday morning you can bet your favorite pair of hunting boots I'll be in the stand. 42 degrees for a high! Woohoo!!

Me too...I still recall that late October afternoon back in 2008 in Illinois hanging on to the tree for dear life praying it would calm down some by dark so I could exit the tree. 35 mph winds with gust into the 50's. Not fun! Limbs falling out around me from time to time. :helpsmilie: What an idiot I was! When I got down I had to clean the tree bark out of the back of my pants where I was gripping the tree!:D:D

I got caught in a storm Monday, September 13 that had me singing bible songs holding on for dear life. The rain was coming so hard it left bruises! Thing was after it passed a giant 8 point was right under my tree. Trouble was I had no buck tag. I was thankful to see the buck and to be no worse for wear after that.
