String Music

I'll try to keep the story short. This past Saturday I went out to what my family calls the "big oak" stand. It is on the corner of a picked bean field and is right next to the thickest part of our timber. Nothing was moving until there was about 15 min left of shooting light. All of a sudden a whole pack of coyotes 10-12 cut loose not over 70-80 yards away. I gave my best rabbit squawk on my hand using my mouth that I could and sure enough here came a yote on the bean field from the brush. It gave me a perfect 30 yard shot and then I let it have it. It gave a yelp and then ran directly under my stand and expired. Then the whole pact ran over toward my direction to investigate. There were heading out of my location so I called again and they made a bee-line straight for me. I picked out another yote and let it have it. Then I knocked another arrow and let a third one listen to some string music. After that I couldn't shoot anymore because it got too dark to see my pins. So I yelled to scare the rest of the pack so I could climb down. Problem was they wouldn't leave. Instead they were growling, barking, and fighting each other. There was no way that you could have made me climb out of the stand. I had to call a buddy t to drive his truck to my stand so that way I could get out. We found two of the yotes easily but then the pack started to come back before we even had time to look for the third. So we got out of there since they were being so aggressive. Does anyone have any clue as to why they were acting this way??? The only reason I could think of is that there was 3 other pack howling at the same time all within 600-700 yard of my location, and they thought that they were being attacked by another pack. Here is a pic of the two that I found.

Congrats on the trio of arrows slung at the yotes and the 2 recoveries. Chances are the 3rd one wasn't far off but I doubt I would have kept looking for the same reason too. I have no idea why they were acting that way...you tried to let them know they weren't welcome and they still didn't get the message!

Im thinking the smell of blood, and you may of eliminated the boss dog in the pack out of the three......they were probably fighting immediately to show dominence to get the top seed in the fight....that is so cool you killed three coyotes in one sitting..WITH A BOW...you make us Illinois bowhunters proud....kudos to you....al
