So true.

I'm sure I would have been a statistic last Saturday had it not been for my HSS.

I was climbing a bitternut hickory (hard bark). I was up about 15 feet and I had just adjusted my strap up. I sat down, pulled my feet up and the left side of the base of my climber hit a knot, when I went to stand up, the right side of my stand went down about 6" which was enough to pitch me right out to the right. In an instant I was falling, I instinctively reached up and grabbed my strap and got straightened out. I only fell about 2" but it sure was enough to get the ol' heart beating.

I can't imagine what the perceived benefit is in not using safety equipment?

We all all over the safety issue in the FD and that is a constant learning experience. Knowledge and technology move forward and we should take advantage of it.

I do not know why I would do something different when off-duty hunting? I hope your buddy is OK.

be safe....not sorry.
