Do you always have a "Happy Face Plate"?

I was thinking about this while eating chicken and fish, washing it down with grease and root beer, at Long John Silvers. I was always brought up to eat ALL of my food. Now, the only time I quit eating is if the food is really bad (an I mean holding your nose and not chewing-bad) or if I am absolutely stuffed!!! But I have to ask why??? I feel guilty throwing away perfectly good food, and I paid good money for that too.

Buffets- You eat and eat, after you're full, so you can "get your moneys' worth".....but why????

Are you guys like me, eating well after you feel full?? grin.gif

funny. i was always taught to clean my plate, and i never wasted food when i was a kid. at times with 4 siblings, we had to fight to get enough.

now that i'm older, i fall back on that old training and find myself cleaning my kids plates when they don't eat everything.

let me tell you this, it's a sure trap to gain weight. i kept myself in pretty good shape until i started having kids. i don't make the time to work out and my thyroid problems have resulted in me ballooning in weight.

my suggestion to you is to order less or don't put as much on your plate. when i was your age, i could easily down a large pizza by myself. now i have trouble eating 3.

Re: Do you always have a \"Happy Face Plate\"?

Me and the wife have been talking a lot about this lately. Its a trend we're tying to break.

I was brought up to clean my plate too. She really never was, but once you have a reality to answer to, you feel the need to eat everything you payed for. Ive put on a ton of weight that way. Btw, I really need to get back in the gym.

We are the worst about spending money and not letting it go to waste. Its hard though. We will easily drop a $20 at Mazzio's. Then if you get full you hate to leave anything behind. I also have this thing about the waitress taking my plate back with food. If I get out a huge salad (we're talking a head of lettuce) I eat every last bite because I dont want to feel bad about food I didn't eat.

The reality is portion control. Thats the biggest factor in weight loss. You really can eat about anything (within reason) and as long as you reduce the calorie intake you will loose wait. Dont expect to get your BFI into the single digits but you will reduce fat. Trying to get that BFI into the single digits take a strict diet but simply pushing away from the table a little earlier will slim down just about anyone. It doesn't help that restaurants work on the "More Bang For The Buck" theory.

Not too much anymore and really depends on what it is I am eating. Used to eat until I got full and then continue on eating, but seems the metabolism is slowing some and am becoming more cautious abotu overeating.

I don't eat all that i can! I stop when im full! Eat slowly and you will fill up faster! Promise! Take your time in chewing the food!!! Its easyier on your body to break it down and send it where it needs to go! I have been eating good for the last 4 years! I used to be a big ole boy!!! Like 280 pounds! Then i realize i need to loose some weight! In my senior year of high school i lost about 80 pounds! Which took my to a very lean muscular 200 pounds! It was awesome!!! I have put on a few since then! But i do work out everyday! If you eat past the point of being full you will look full also!
