Here is your official update....they are chasin'...they are answering rattle bags, poor grunting, and esp. the doe "can" calls......we are seeing alot of younger, dumber bucks making the mistakes first, and the big ones are getting smacked at night by cars on the tails of a doe going into estrous....it should be getting crazy any day now....Im in Northern Illinois, just south of Rockford in Ogle County....this is my report from the tree.......al

Was out Friday - Monday. Friday 5 different bucks up on their feet and under my stand. No big boys. Saturday - Monday hunted in Jasper county and had bucks coming to can call but only smaller bucks in the 120 - 130 range. Nothing big but hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday I can lay the smack down on a big boy.

Does were laying low and not moving much with the high pressure. I didn't see any hard chasing but bucks were looking for hot does. I think the weather is supposed to change on Friday and borameter to fall...that should help

Last night I had a big buck come in right at dark to the can call...he grunted about 20 times but unfortunalty I couldn't get a shot in the low/no light. In the morning I had one small buck come by. Some buck movement in the last week but I am not seeing chasing here in Centeral Il (East and West) my buddies that are hunting saying the same thing...that they have not see major chasing in the deer woods yet. I guess it all comes down to haveing a couple does that are getting hot and the bucks going after them. If you got them in your hunt'in spot then you have had some chase activity the last week. Unfortunalty, my areas have not...however, I think the whole state is about to heat up in the next couple days. This delayed rut should make for a lively gun season if it holds off a few more days and extends into the 19th. However, I hope it pops b/c I am getting tired of sitting all day and seeing 1 to 2 little bucks.

Drink'in a cup of coffee right now and going our to my stand for a morning hunt. I am on a real hot spot where the big boy came in last night gruntin his head off...hope to have more than words when I return the RT next!!

Sporadic in central Ohio. I've heard a couple chases, but haven't seen the buck doing the chasing. Starting to see some bucks cruising. Since Monday (and the time change), I've see a lot of does out in the middle of fields calmly eating with their fawns with no sign of bucks on their tails. Saw a doe and her 2 fawns trot across a bean field with nothing in tow last night. Saw a goofy little spiker trotting across the same field, but he headed the opposite way of the doe. Warm weather might be holding down the daytime activity. Supposed to stay warm all week. Next week might be it.

This has pretty much been what I'm seeing too. I shot an 8 the week before Holloween and seen lots of deer on their feet. Then it just shut down for some reason the last two weeks. I have yet to see a buck chasing a doe this year. I have grunted and bleated a few smaller bucks in, but that's been it. The does seem to have vanished. Hopefully this cold front moving in will turn things back on. I'll be back in my stand Sunday.

Went this morning and it was cold and raining. Saw a little buck chase a doe across the corn field past me at about 9:30am. He ran her into the woods then back out in the corn field. I was watching them and then looked over and saw another buck coming with his nose to the ground. I put the scope on him and could see he had a big frame, but it was raining pretty hard and he was 125+ yards out so I couldnt tell much about him. I tried grunting to get him to stop and pick his head up so I could look him over but he ignored me. My brother killed a solid 11 pointer coming to Tinks 69 on Saturday the 13th, and my neighbor dropped a big 12 the same day. It's getting good here.
